Yes! Well... it depends how you are defining interior design. Are you thinking about finishes and furnishings? Or about the design of the interior space; how spaces relate to one another, circulation, flow, function? If you are speaking of design, and not decoration, please consult with an interior designer at the same time as the architect, or before. In my experience, interior designers think on a smaller, function based level; architects are about the big picture. An interior designer should ask you how you live. This question helps to guide design because they will consider your particular needs. Also, consult with a kitchen and bath designer before finalizing house plans. Most times, interior designers (and kitchen and bath designers) work with what they are given. Sometimes it is a fixed space. Sometimes a wall or two can be taken down. And we do the best we can with what we've got. BUT, many times, a designer dealing with interior spaces wishes they were consulted before plans were set in stone (so to speak). Sometimes, it is the little things that make a big difference in function.

1. Keep only what you need or want and avoid duplicates. Ahh. if only life were only that simple. You move in together with a "relationship" and your partner's "stuff" is "nicer" so you sell everything. Well, ladies and gentlemen, if it doesn't work out, if it wasn't "yours" before you moved in you'll have nothing when you move out. Consider all options. Store items of "yours" for a while that you'd like to keep, just in case. :) Store Grandma's antiques that you like that you may regret selling. If you Hate the antiques, sell them. 2. If your new abode is only YOURS.,,.keep only what you love and eliminate duplicates.

The amazing thing is that you have the luxury of approaching the architect about these issues. Laminated glass should address the security along with any alarm or security system you plan on installing, though the laminated glass may have size limitations. Regarding the waterproofing you should contact the architect, contactor and waterproofing subcontractor, or see about hiring an independent waterproofing specialist who can detail and warranty the condition. As a design consideration, make the lower area a garden or gallery or sculpture area and upper should be all glass. Maybe a garden roof there too if accessible or visible.
