Front Landscape Transformation in Old Town Alexandria, VA

Site: the front landscape of a townhouse in Old Town Alexandria, VA which featured an ivy covered slope, overgrown species, stairs and a porch that were in decline.

Issues: Add form to the landscape and make it more functional.

Design: The design called for the removal of the ivy, installation of stacked stone retaining walls to hold the slope, the form of which was repeated on step and porch risers. The steps and porch were both renovated; and a terrace was created behind the upper retaining wall. Shrubs, perennials and grasses were added.
