Living room design?

Hi, we recently downsized from a house into an apartment. Our couch is fairly large (115" L) and we're wondering if we can make it work or have to get a smaller one. (If we go smaller, we would do a lighter puddy tone) We also picked out a coffee table (52" L X 23" W) and media console 65" L X 18" D X 22" H) we might buy tomorrow. The coffee table may be too long but I love and can't find it in a shorter length.

Any opinions welcome on how to make this space work. We like relaxing neutral tones. Here are a couple pictures of the room and I'll add pics of the potential media stand and coffee table below. Thank you!

I like your coffee table choice and it will work...but, everything in the space is rectangles and hard edges. Notice in the above photo with the chaise sofa there is a round coffee table to mix things up. The current media console looks like it's the right size. I think your sofa can work but pull it off the wall at least 4". A small accent chair angled toward the sofa will round out the conversation area and make it feel cozier.

Here is the media console and coffee table. I'd like to place plants on the lower stone/marble shelf of the coffee table to create and interesting display.
media console has brass pulls, and will be quite a bit smaller than the existing piece of furniture we're using temporarily.

coffee table has marble lower shelf, glass upper

Thanks for your idea.. but study room entrance can't be shifted as there is RCC pillar on side wall and electricity board on that wall.. Do you suggest to put the separator between drawing n dining.will this make the area congested..this is the only thing I am afraid of..

My suggestion would be to re-orient so that the TV is hung on the wall to the left. Couch would be perpendicular to the window. Right now the tv viewing area is being crowded into the corner. Even better would be to have electronics on other side of wall but that may not be feasible (ie, it's probably not a closet there).

It can work with a sectional, make it cosy, love throws especially faux fur throw and pillows. I would have been inclined to go with a lighter console table. Floor lamp. Nice drapes hang high and perhaps frosting on your entrance door.

Thank you all! I see what you mean with that round coffee table. I'm torn between the white top in pic above OR sticking with the original options (see blue tape for size). We're also looking to add a light colored 8x10 rug, throws, new pillows a fiddle leaf fig in front of window and possibly a small chair or pouf angled toward the sofa by the window. ----- All of the Windows have white roll down shades, if I hang curtains, do I also hang a curtain on the door? Or just the two actual windows? Lastly, any art suggestions for that bare wall are totally welcome! Thank you

From Feng shui perspective I would add round or oval coffee Table and try to position TV possible in the corner " Angel it" especially if the space is limited might be better use of the room. At the moment too many linear forms

I think having the arm of the sectional right against the wall makes it a little awkward, but I can see why you did it in relation to the media console. You might not be able to squeeze a side or accent table but if you moved it a couple of inches away from the wall and put a task lamp or something else...?

Can you rotate the sectional through 90 degrees so the longer back faces the larger blank wall? Then put media unit on that big wall with a sofa table behind the sectional? It might also provide a barrier to the front door so you're not looking at it. I don't know if there's the room though.

Perfect! Love the task lamp idea and moving the couch away from the wall a few inches. Tried it and it looks much better, even a couple inches makes a difference! I really like the coffee table and I want to make it work. Looking for any other ideas of how to ease the eyes on all the straight lines?

If you really like the rectangular coffee table, then I say go ahead with it. You can still end up softening all those straight lines with accessories like a cylindrical vase on the table, a round tray, unusual ornamental objects, etc. and maybe even some wood items--it's organic and helps to tone down modern and sleek furnishings and shapes. For the rug, maybe you might also want to consider a cowhide rug.

love the sectional in this space. i don't think it's too big. is there room behind the sectional, to add a console? or does that cut into your hallway/walking space?

The sofa is from Four Hands, 3 years old and still solid. Unfortunately a sofa table would cut into the walk way space. Now onto a rug, new pillow covers a plant and artwork !!

Hi---

Off to a great start. Lovely pieces... Round coffee table would have been easier to navigate around and brought in a feminine shape, but this one is very nice. :))

The only recommendation I have is to rearrange the layout. Sectional back to dining table---TV on opposite wall, and perhaps a chair or upholstered ottoman(s), for additional seating. This current layout is ok, but not very welcoming---No one should have to walk around the sofa and chaise to take a seat. If the chaise was against the wall, fine-but such is not the case. Hope this is helpful... Good Luck!

Hi Natalie, thank you! I totally agree with you about facing the sofa the other way. Unfortunately the room is too small to switch to that layout. You're right, the round coffee table would look better in the room - for some reason this one was screaming my name and I caved! Trying to justify it now by styling around it ;)

Wow-I never would have thought the sectional was too long based off of the photos and taped off area for the coffee table. That far wall looks to be around 10 feet... ?

As for accessories, rug-pillows and such, any certain style and color you'd like to incorporate?
