You could also bring in some texture with bamboo sticks or decorative branches and help balance a bit the height of your room with small scale furniture. Spray paint them if you find the perfect size and shape but they aren't the color that you need. Oh, I really like that last one--the gourd-like look with the mercury glass base and black shade. Now, a black shade will really direct the light to a more finely concentrated degree than a white or lighter-hued shade. If that worries you, definitely consider a lighter shade if you go for that lamp. My second favorite of these three would be the first one!
