Use blinds on the windows and door that will serve as your functioning treatments. Woven wood blinds are beautiful for this application and would add nice texture. They come in an amazing assortment of weaves. Decorative stationary drapery panels on the sides will soften the wall and give you a little punch of color from fabrics. I have done this in several clients homes and it looks beautiful. The colors of your furnishings would work really well as well. I would go for a custom treatment with a rod stretching across the entire wall. There could be one panel to the right of your doorway which would pull across to cover the doorway and pull back to stack to the right of the doorway. The other panel would be wider and it would stack to the left of the window grouping. It would pull over to meet the left side of the doorway (and the right drapery) when you want the whole works covered. It would take a professional workroom to calculate the widths and install this but it would be a wonderful addition to your room. Effectively, you could have the doorway exposed whenever you want to, and it would be framed by nice pleated panels for balance in the room.

The drawback to treating with functioning drapery panels as suggested is that the stack back on the draperies will not match. Take a look at the wall and note that you have very limited wall space to the right of the window. The amount of width a drapery uses when open is called the stack back of the drapery. To have one panel that closes over just the door and another that covers three windows you have the make the left panel 3x the width of the right. That would make the stack back of the left panel 3x as wide as that of the left. While you have wall space on the left side for a wider stack, the visual result of that would be strange when the draperies are open.

Actually it would look very nice. I've done this before with asymmetrical windows and it looks just fine if done by a professional workroom. At night with the curtains completely drawn over the windows the effect is dramatic. During the day the ability to pull everything off the window allows you to see the view. The difference in panels is not very obvious is a fairly lightweight fabric is used. A linen gauze in a wide width fabric could be stunning.

Just wondering Cynthia, would the rod on the left need extra support due to its length? And would that not interfere with the ability to close and to open the curtains?

Some rods are designed so drapes can slide past the support brackets. That's why I always consult my workroom for the best hardware solution. Based on the strength of the rod, the length of the rod, and the weight of the drapery fabric, the workroom or installer will recommend the right number of brackets. j
