How about pale yellow with a red roof and a red front door it would look cheery but then what colour would you do the shutters? I think the best is to do pale yellow and keep the black on the roof, door and shutters.

If you're going with a red roof, pick a neutral color for the house. I suggest a fresh coat of white, or you could go with a light grey.

I thought about yellow but my husband and friends all said no, But looking at this picture it really comes together. We were going for like beach house colors but the house is so long and with brick and wood combo I was not sure this would look good.

I think you will really find that the yellow will make it look homey and classic at the same time.

I'd remove the shutters, too. They don't look like they actually fit the windows. Shutters should be able to cover the windows, not just be decorative.

I think the shutters add some detail to the house that you wouldn't get with awnings. Also awnings are a little out of date and would decrease the amount of light that came into the house.

It faces west? Oh I think I am over thinking this LOL. I should stop being scared of the yellow and just go for it.....I don't know why I had my heart set on something blue. I could always have some decorations in the front yard a pretty blue are plant some pretty flowers. I really enjoy the pics of the yellow house it really helps I am so visual it is hard for me to imagine things I have to see for myself

If you want to follow Feng Shui for a house facing west, then a grayish blue house with white or black shutters and a white, black or deep cranberry door would be great! Brass or coppery accents! Or keep the white brick, add a bright navy or cranberry colored door and tan or black shutters. Otherwise, the yellow is great.

I would lose the shutters or else get some sized to be functional, no awnings, medium blue gray, whit trim around door way and a cranberry door. I use feng shui principles. also if you went with the yellow and white with a red door it would look great

teal is too trendy. ok if you plan to repaint annually.

I have been trying the color visualizer on Sherman Williams web sight for 2 hours and am still having trouble picking the colors. I think they discontinued some of their paint colors.

I agree with kristinanadreau--If you like shutters get the right size for the windows. The ones you have now don't look right because they don't fit the windows. There was an article or discussion here some time ago about this subject but I can't find it now but I do remember that shutters should always at least LOOK like they are functional.

I wouldn't worry too much about the size of the shutters because they are very close to being the right size for closing, if anything they might be out by and inch or two and the cost of getting custom shutters made might not be worth the expense. I think standard shutters would be a better use of your money because you have a lot of repairs ahead of you. When you are done though it will look fantastic.
