Thanks Dytecture, help needed with seating guests who are to be entertained in the bar ...can I keep something infront which can face both screen wards and sofa wards as and when required? Any picture to suggest?

How wonderful of you to do something so nice for your parents. The only thing I would say is be sure you can return it should they not like it, we all have different tastes and you just never know. That being said how about something like this from Joss & Main...also consider an ottoman that opens up for storage and is flat enough on top to act as a table. This one was one Overstock I believe you can flip the tops to be table or footstool.

Hi Kiran, Before you place any furniture here, you should rethink the existing layout. I would eliminate the 3 internal walls around the puja room, and convert the areas of the living, puja, dining and kitchen, into a singular larger space. This is simply for better air circulation and overall aesthetics of the flat - to make it feel larger. You will now have an open kitchen - which can be shut by either a glass sliding folding partition, or with a half wall with a breakfast bar. You can use furniture smartly to create privacy for individual areas. You can also change the locations of the doors to the bedrooms, by not having them from the dining space, but from the passage outside the bathrooms; so that a larger table right in the centre with a dining credenza by one of the walls, thereby making the dining space a bit enclosed and not accessible from 3 sides. To answer your main question, you can have the television on the common wall between the living and bathroom (5'x8'); an L-shaped sofa can be placed along the same wall as the entrance door. Hello there, If you don't want to consider wood as a countertop, there are several other options available : 1. Wrought iron jaali 2. Corian solid surfaces (susceptible to heat) 3.Marble/granite/quartz 4. Semi-precious stone slabs 5. PU paint 6. Sandstone 7. Concrete with oxide paints(IPS) 8. Glass mosaic etc..
