Where is the best place to put a niche in the shower

I have decided I want to put a couple of niches in my shower in a house we are having built but am wondering where is the best placement of them so that they don't have so much water spraying on them?

It depends. What's the size of your shower, and where's the showerhead located?

In addition to water spray, consider that if you're in a heating climate you might not want it on an exterior wall if it will result in you losing the majority of your insulating value in that section of wall.

yvonne, yes i guess we can use it in the dining. The dinining room is small and doesnt have any windows. the kitchen has a lot of natural light that will come across to the dining due to the open kitchen plan. We will be buying new furniture for the dining. We could buy a glass top table with wood chairs / wood table with wood chairs. The room will be painted offwhite similar color as the base of this fabric. All walls will be painted the same color by the builder, Afer taking possession of the house we can repaint it where needed for accent wall etc. Its an appartment, we live in India.

great place to put your pots and pans on hooks or little shelves for the spice collection, inset fridge so it is counter depth, a cabinet or counter with a lovely mosaic, look at these cool examples. just cool little village, my restaurant is the bldg on the end, no? my raft is on the horizon splashing your feet in the pool hang a ladle by it so guests can sing while you cook that chair is just calling you yeah, well just cause they goofed and put it in the bath. Sorry, Just did not understand the pic. You can also put ikea bars with various utensils hung from them.

#1 is the only one that works with your doorways. But I would rethink the sectional pieces which look too large. You will need at least a floor lamp. Your table/chairs looks narrow in relation to your sectional - is it to scale in the drawing? You may not have enough room. I would use a sofa against the wall and two chairs on either end facing toward each other.

No chipped stone what would be the purpose of that ? Get a nice T.V stand depending on your style ( we have no clue ) then mount the TV at proper viewing height which is the center of the screen at eyellevel when you are seated . I love the Besta system from Ikea but it is very contemporary so when deciding on stand make sur eit is low to allow proper TV placement

While not exactly part of your question, possibly another thing to consider in the niche placement is whether they're something you want to see from your bathroom or not. While the niches themselves can be beautiful, the various bottles that go in them (covering up the gorgeous tile work) are not. We have a half wall of tile dividing the shower and rest of the bath and chose to put the niche there. It's totally out of the spray for one shower head and while it's directly in line with the other shower head it doesn't seem to be a problem.

Your niche can be a beautiful design element and functional too. To avoid the bottle clutter issue, buy decorative containers for your soap and shampoo and transfer the contents. Great idea about the different bottles, ladycfp! I've been wondering about putting the niche on the most visible wall, but that will help a lot.

If you face the shower head when you are bathing, wouldn't you want the niche on the wall with the shower head? My vote is to think practical.

I'm putting mine on the back wall (the wall opposite the showerhead). That way I don't have to step completely into the water flow and have water in my face while reaching for whatever I want.

If you face the shower head when you are bathing, wouldn't you want the niche on the wall with the shower head? My vote is to think practical.

That WOULD be the best place for it. The problem is that the wet wall usually has all the rough plumbing inside it, and unless you want to send your plumber's kids to Yale, it's tough to reroute all the piping.

The place for it is usually the wall adjoining the wet wall, about a foot or so away from the corner.
