Colour is fun but I don't feel yellow brown will be an inviting foil to the cream. Wood in that tone would be fine. How do you want to feel in your room? Fresh light airy? The. Go white. Cool edgy look - then add colour but be brave. Tomato red or Sea Blue or Coral.

If you want to highlight the staircase wall then your could use earthy colours such as a yellow ochre! The wall could be enhanced even more by using suitable frames and making a good collage composition for all the photos that you have (I can see many lying on the dining table). This colour would match well with wooden furnitures

My first question will be: what is the utilities of this room? Who live in it? Age, gender? Is this room oriented by the North or South? East or West? What do you want to feel in this room? Serenety? Concentration? Spirituality? Energy? After all this answer it will be easier to help you. :)

mostly Indians uses brown varnish paints for their main wooden doors....I even don't know why they didn't use other colors...even in my house doors are given brown color wooden texture...
