Where do I begin?

So you're running two threads on this space? I think you'll be happier with the responses if you stick to one thread for the entire makeover, as it is all inter-dependent - foyer - living - dining. Now that I know that the living dining are together I'd suggest you use measurements from the blocked space above the windows to determine stripe width in the dining space if you go with the wide horizontal stripes I suggested. The pattern is already set for you if you take the measurements. You could also make the stripes the width of your lower window section, or half of it, but use the horizontal lines already in your space to determine the other stripes you may add.

I think your house might lend itself to this beautiful modern wood and glass look. http://www.trendir.com/house-design/tag/mexican-modern-architecture

hi, Your house opens up into your drawing room. As mentioned in your plan, the drawing room is 18'9". I suggest you add a glass partition that doesnt kill the openess from where the pink column marked next to your tv console begins. (I have marked this with a blue rectangle on the plan for you). This will give you a wide enough foyer to greet you with. In order to spruce up the foyer, you could put a sleek console table behind your sofa in front of the glass wall (again marked with a brown rectangle on your plan). The mandir can face your entrance directly (a brown rectangle marked with an option 1 tag on your plan). If you do not want an open mandir in the entrance.. you could also hide inside a nice cabinet with traditional shutters that blends with the rest of the furniture style in your house. Keep the width of the mandir cabinet commensurate to the space you leave as a passage way to the rest of the house. A minimum 28-30 inches should be fine. That might entail shortening the glass partition. The other option would be to have it in the middle of the house - the common space between all room as suggested by Designospire (this is marked as option 2 in the plan of your place I am just going to attach below). Again I suggest you keep the mandir cabinet as sleek as possible so the openess of the space isnt lost. By adding a foyer I think your drawing room becomes more cozy, intimate and interactive. Incase you're looking for some privacy you could even hang some sheers or curtains or blinds on this glass partition that would conceal the foyer from direct viewing from your dwg room. Hope this helps!
