Comments (2)A good quality sheet vinyl floor is going to give you the durability and cleanability you're looking for. It will last forever. There are lots of different choices of colour and pattern and you can probably find a remnant at a good price. You say you need something durable for the wall too? Do you mean the walls in the shower, around your bathtub, or the walls in the rest of the bathroom? A company like Bath Fitter offers an easy care solution which is seamless (for the bathing/showering area) but a good quality paint should be fine for the rest of your walls....See MoreNeed help with bathroom layout
Comments (3)It seems the WC would be better on the top wall with the vanity. If you have a walk-in shower, it doesn't need to be quite so wide, and you can move the entrance to the bottom to be more generous. If you have a tub/shower combo, you don't need the partition at all. Consider flipping the door swing unless you're really concerned with privacy....See Morebathroom
Comments (30)So for this to work, you need to go back through my question and make sure you have answered all of them the best you can. Is the electrical outlet for the counter space going to be right next to the switch, or is it that blurred spot that I see in the picture, . If your walls are Travertine marble, and there are not already electrical boxes in the exact location the lights go, we are going to have a hard time. If a 30" vanity goes in the corner, and you leave 5" on each side for the lights, that leaves a 20" mirror with one light jammed tight into the corner. So if we leave another inch on both sides, for clearance, that leaves 18" mirror. If you put a 3" frame around the mirror mirror, that only allows for 12" of actual mirror. I don't think that is enough mirror. Your bath is too narrow for a mirrored cabinet with built in lights unless it is recessed into th wall. The plumbing is probably in the way for that. Give me your thoughts on what I have just said, and then go back and answer all my questions. Then we can take it from there with a narrower down and focused search....See MoreIs it a good (or bad) idea to have a common bathroom of 2 bedrooms?
Comments (32)I strongly second One Plan's idea about looking for another architect. If this one is not motivated, all the fame in the world is not going to help. An alternative approach to finding an architect is to find some good contractors who have built things you like. Ask them for architects' names. Make sure they work in your price range. In the meantime, you can find out from your local building department what the set back and height restrictions are. Are you required to build parking areas or garage space, what kind of airspace restrictions do you have for neighbors' views and sunlight, that kind of thing. Often this stuff is on city websites or handouts at the office....See MoreSoCal Contractor
