I think a comfortable distance between the island and the counter is around 42". It seems that you have only 30" between your cook top and the counter. I might be a little too tight. The wall between the entrance and the kitchen could be 4' long instead of 6', you would then be able to move the island a foot which would give you more room between the cook top and the island. Could you switch the location of the toilet and vanity in your dad's bathroom so your enter facing a vanity instead of a toilet which is a lot nicer.

Light Sheer Curtains will look good, do not forget to add a pelmet to cover the ugly rods . Either have wells stitched curtains or buy good ones which fall well. The beauty of a curtain is not only in the colour , but also the type of fabric and the stitching quality. Do not compromise on any of these. You can have a light 1/2" grey trim vertically on the ends of the curtains also, this will define the curtain space. The cushions can be silk plain ivory long cushions, ideally 16"x 12" . Do think of having a nice jute breathable rug again in a greyish ivory combination. A few good ethnic floor lamps will bring out the beauty in place. An extra tip would be to invest in good ceiling lighting

Hello Rachna, We have gone through your posts. Please clarify the room size is it 12x8 or 16x9.3 . Let's start from bottom line, what is the budget that you can spare now for the makeover. A lot of remodelling would depend upon the budget .BTW, I really appreciate your honesty about the affordability ! Coming back to the topic, I believe your TV unit is placed in a good position but other units will require movement. Please do confirm the size. Hello there, So much of discussion for the thickness of plywood? It always comes down to load bearing and shear strength (MOE and MOR) which is ensured in thicker plywoods. Hence, 19mm is apt for wardrobes. Second, doors should be of 25mm bloackboard / 19mm plywood but edge banding must overlap between laminates to prevent peeling/warping.
