As a former resident of the Portland area, it was well known that to engage any professional designer, you wanted Di Barker Interiors to do the job. After moving to Florida I instantly knew that Di Barker's eye, sense of style and creativity was needed for my project. The miles were not an issue for Di as she committed to this project sending well chosen fabrics and various samples to complete the vision for my new home. Coming in under budget, she achieved my hope for a softer atmosphere in both my living room and dining room. The compliments from local friends and neighbors are many. i couldn't be happier with Di's professionalism, her talent for understanding exactly what I was looking to accomplish, and achieving this all from 3000 miles away. Her task was enormous, her completed project was simply stunning.

We had a fantastic time working with Di and her team over our 6-month assignment. Her creativity and taste level is far superior to anyone we interviewed. I hired Di, after a friend provided her information. When we first met, she was very interested in my tastes and desires for the house I was having built. I had certain items that I wanted, based on what I had seen at houses I had toured that were for sale. Di was able to capture everything and provided great insight. When we met with the builder, she was very helpful in flow of the floor plan, redesigning rooms, layout, etc. When it came to choosing items, Di really understood my tastes. But it was a partnership. If there was a suggestion and I wasn't sold on it, she moved on. This was great, and made me really feel like it was my home. Di's advice and designs sometimes were dramatic, but often were subtle. But it is that attention to detail that really makes the home shine. When friends visit, they marvel at the finished product. I always give the credit to Di. While the final decisions were mine, it was her guidance that made it happen. Di also loved to go shopping for those statement items to decorate. She knew that I loved specific types of decorations. This came from our shopping trips together. I can't state strongly enough that her ability and willingness to listen made all the difference and took significant stress out of what could have been a much more stressful process. This was the 3rd house I had built, so I am familiar with the process. Throughout the entire process, Di was professional, courteous and all around amazing!! She loves finding deals for great quality products and showing you the money saved. Di kept us informed about every aspect of the projects and related timelines and met and/or exceeded set deadlines. Di also managed all of the service providers so well that we did not have to interfere or manage quality finishes as I have had to do with a recent remodel. Di has extensive relationships with these quality providers and they were also very professional and did a phenomenal job.

Di was hired to help us with an office build out and the design, decoration and furnishing of our office. We were moving into a white shell and all aspects of of the design and execution were left to Di. Our challenge to Di was to create an environment that was a functional office AND was also a zen like den with a feeling of warmth, love, possibility and beauty. Not an easy challenge. And to make it more difficult, our budget was not huge. In short, Di did magic and transformed a white shell into an amazing office space that is filled with beauty and energy and also is super functional. This allows my team to work in a place that feels warm and comfortable and also gives them the space and tools to get work done. Best, David

I first hired Di to help with designing my company's new office space. She perfectly interpreted our design aesthetic into a modern yet inviting space to host clients. She did such a great job that when I purchased a new house, I asked her to tackle the entire house. She did an amazing job of combining my desire for a contemporary look with an 1890's Victorian re-model. I absolutely love walking into my home every day because it perfectly reflects my personality. Di Barker is quite simply a genius. My husband and I have both work in an industry that has access to future trends in fashion, color and materials. We have a firm grasp on what we like and what we don't like, but where we cramped was how to arrange our style appropriately in our mid-century home. Enter Di Barker. Di came to our home and after walking around for no more than 15 minutes, asking a couple questions about how we want to use our spaces, her ideas started to flow. What I found amazing is that Di used furniture we already owned and offered up ideas on how to use it differently. Bookcases and chairs from one room are now in another. The entire configuration in the living room went from a "waiting room" vibe to a warm social gathering spot. We had friends over the other night and they couldn't stop talking about how different everything felt. She also provided an extended vision into how we could add on to the room, suggesting specific placement of art and shelving.
