We wanted to wait to write this review until we had our first big event at our home as the kitchen and family room became the focal point for the gathering. Comment after comment was made that this modern farm house concept was one they dreamed their kitchen would look like. The kitchen, family room, laundry room, bathroom tie-in was far more than we had expected and the kitchen/family room space is our new favorite place to spend time in our home-so bright and so spacious. Gary’s creativeness and attention to detail was very impressive. It was a pleasure to work with some one who allowed us to express our desires as to our vision for the remodel but one who offered very artistic and creative solutions to a very difficult remodeling job. We absolutely love our new kitchen! We only wish we would have done it sooner. The horror stories regarding hiring a contractor kept us dragging our feet. We are so happy that we decided to take a chance on Gary. Gary loves what he does and it shows through his hard work and dedication. He showed up every day right on time and always with a smile. We started with a difficult layout to begin with and Gary made every decision as if he were the one living here. We appreciated his honest opinions throughout the entire project. He is truly an expert at what he does and our kitchen is better than we could have ever envisioned!

We are elated with our recently remodeled Master Bathroom! Months before he started demo on our bathroom project, Gary drafted a functional and beautiful design that we were delighted with. As the project began, his knowledge, creativity, and sense of space, light, and balance resulted in modifications which turned our original "beautiful" design into an absolutely "spectacular" bathroom. Our completed custom bathroom is more than we had ever envisioned. Gary was engaging and professional, and his positive attitude in our house each day made it easier to get through the remodeling process. Gary is a craftsman who brought refreshing enthusiasm, a great eye for detail, and dedication to getting the job done right to our kitchen remodel. We had an idea as to how to layout our new kitchen, and he did a great job helping us rethink the design to make the most of our room's existing assets and modernize nearly half of our house in the process. Gary treated our home like his own and helped us out with numerous odd repairs to cabinets, walls, windows, our fences, and even installing my parents' bathroom tile at their house while he was working with us. Our favorite part of the kitchen remodel is how Gary helped open up the main room of our house by raising the ceiling and restoring the line-of-sight between the windows on either side of the kitchen. As a nice finishing touch, Gary even mopped out our garage after moving his equipment out. We highly recommend Gary for your remodel project - he'll do great work and you'll have a lot of fun working with him. We can't wait to have him do our next project.

Gary has done a number of projects for us, including a complete kitchen remodel, dinning room remodel and installation of a very customized door. Impressive start. Little did we know what he had in store for us. Wow.....Is the first word that I think of, when I admire the Work that Gary performed in my Home. His attention to detail...No his obsession with Detail is something to experience. Even after 32 years in the home improvement business myself, I'm just like you, when it comes to improving my Home. Am I paying to much, can I trust this person....Will I get my money worth? Well, I am happy to report and I'm sure Pat and I will miss Gary when he's gone, that he delivers and then some. He will approach you Home as though it was his own. He's a great communicator, and I found I could trust his judgment. I would report to you that we have an enjoyable as well as a professional relationship with Gary. PS. He likes His Apple Pies home made....

Gary is a true craftsman. He thinks outside the box to remedy challenging design issues. He figured out a clever way to move the ventilation above the hood so it was no longer an eyesore. He has an eye for details that make a big impact on the overall look of the space. He has a positive, cheerful, can-do attitude. He also notices other areas in the home that need improvements and fixes them! He is very reliable, conscientious and trustworthy. I love my new, updated kitchen. I kept my cherry cabinets and flooring and updated it with new appliances, counter top and back splash. Items added: 36" Viking range top, Kobe hood, Sonoma Tileworks, Ashbury Market Collection, Chamomile, 3" x 6" crackle Subway back splash with a 1" x 2" herringbone pattern behind the range top, Delicatus Cream granite, Pottery Barn pendant lights, Kohler Langlade Smart-Divide Sink in Biscuit, Moen Brandford faucet.

bid was reasonable, work completed as promised, wonderful workmanship, amazing knowledge of his work, friendly, happy, fun person, and always showed up for the job as promised. he is a talented and hard worker with an amazing amount of tools. He cleaned up every night b/4 going home. will not hesitate to hire Gary for any future remodel/installation job.

I love, love, love my new kitchen! On a scale of 1-10 it's a 15. Gary literally custom built the entire kitchen from the foundation up and the finished product far exceeded our expectations. One of the things we really liked about working with Gary is that he brought ideas to the table. We found this extremely helpful. In addition to being reliable, thorough and a perfectionist, he was easy to live with for the four weeks it took to remodel the kitchen. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. We're looking forward to Gary doing our master bath remodel.

We couldn't be more pleased with our new Kitchen. Unlike many contractors Gary almost single handily performed all the work himself. He is very meticulous and works tirelessly until everything is perfect. Great job!

Repaired or replaced, baseboards, bathroom lights, heaters and extractors; including the attic duct work for three bathrooms. Refinished furniture/cabinets. Replaced all door locks and handles. Replaced all shower heads (3). Gary Woods is honest, very professional and always on time! In addition, Gary is friendly, has a great sense of humor. He cleans up everyday. Give the man five stars!

I have always preferred writing and reading reviews in bullet format. However, that doesnt do Gary justice. For the first time in my review writing career, I will provide both formats. CLIFF-NOTES VERSION: Gary is ... - honest & trustworthy. - onsite everyday working and overseeing his subs w/ a kind eagle eye. - an artist who is meticulous about details to ensure the best outcome for your project. - not going to cut corners even if it cuts into his profits. THE STORY: We asked Gary to move our washer and dryer from our pantry to our guest bath. He assessed the space and told me although it was feasible, I should consider other options. He pointed out that one day, my 3 year old son and 14 month old daughter will want the bathroom real estate. HE WAS RIGHT. My daughter will be thanking him in her teens. He then suggested using my loft (I use to call it our graveyard because it had no real purpose other than house our old broken down stuff). He knew his suggestion was a lot to digest, so, he told us to sleep on it. He gently followed up a few days later. He never made us feel any pressure to sign or agree to anything. He only offered to start the project only after he answered all our questions to our satisfaction. Throughout the process, Gary was very considerate to the fact that I am a first time re-modeller and a working mother of 2 young children. He brought all the samples (tile, hardware, stain) to us. And, when I didn't see what I wanted, he brought more samples. And when I still didn't see the stain I liked, he created a new stain color for me to see. I didn't have to do a thing!!!! Then, came the actual work. He was on site everyday. He was punctual and very clean. In fact, he left my house cleaner than he found it on most days. He also made sure his tools were placed in a location where my kids could not reach. Gary was also very considerate. Before demolition day, he asked us if there was anything we wanted him to take to the dump since he was going that way anyways. We got rid of 2 old queen mattresses and box springs and a small truck full of junk from our garage. I work from home, so, during construction, he would make sure to ask me before switching any breakers and etc. The most considerate part, he hooked up my washer and dresser in a temporary location while construction was in process. This came in very handy. Gary made sure I was always up to date on what was being done and when it was being done and why it was being done. He would give me nightly updates before leaving my home. Gary is creative and has a flare for interior designing. When I asked for dark wood cabinets with a dark wood counter top, he kindly advised that would not look good. He was right. His suggestion of dark wood cabinets with a white oak top was gorgeous!!! He is also meticulous with details and it shows in his work. It is also obvious he has pride in his work. The sliding glass door in the room was not part of the bid, but, he knew the door would look better framed in dark wood. For the office side of my room, he made sure every electronic was hooked up and working. He made sure every cord is tucked away and he even installed extra outlets and shelves under my desk to keep my electronics hidden and off the floor. His work was truly custom to my needs. Most of the time, I didn't even have to ask for the customization. I just had to tell him my general idea and he made it happen! Gary is not a contractor just by trade, he is a contractor at heart. He knew I had a problem with heat in the room in the summer, so, he suggested low-e glass in that room and my daughter's room. Pls note, my daugther's room is adjacent to, but, an entirely separate room from the remodel room. Gary suggested the additional low e glass because he cared. That is Gary. He also doesn't cut corners. In fact, there were several times where he did additional work in attempts to save us time and money in the (far) future. He had to re-run wiring for my internet and phone. I don't have DSL in my neighborhood (yet). Gary was aware of this, but, he still bought and installed internet wire with my phone line in case DSL ever reaches my neighborhood. The cherry on top was when I was working on putting shelves in my pantry. Gary saw me working, came over, gave me unsolicited (and greatly appreciated) tips. He followed up by offering me the correct tools and equipment from his toolbox. While installing the shelves, I found a broken rev a shelf. I was upset I had to deal with a return, so, I left the rev a shelf on the kitchen counter next to my engagement ring. I forgot about both of them and went out for the day. When I returned, the engagement ring was where I left it and the rev a shelf was fixed. Yup, that is Gary. Considerate and trustworthy. I can probably write another 12 paragraphs full of examples about how great Gary is, but, you get the idea. I will definitely be hiring Gary again.

We hired Gary to do our master bath remodel. This is the first major remodel that my husband and I did and the experience couldn't have been better. He is very detail oriented and his attention to detail was what drew us to him. Even before we received our final estimate Gary took the time to go through several different drafts of plans to make sure there were no surprises. He helped us through the design process and selection of material. Gary has an eye for selecting materials so that he can create a true work of art in addition to a functional space. He was prompt and courteous. One of my major concerns about a remodel was all of the dust and debris that I had heard about from others that had work done, however, this was not the case with Gary. In fact, I think he left my house cleaner than it was before he started the job. We were very happy with our project and will certainly use him again!

Gary Woods did a complete remodel of our master bath and closet. He is a perfectionist and a true craftsman. Gary has an optimistic attitude and was always willing to accommodate special requests. My bath and rooms are the envy of everybody who sees them and will add value to our home. Gary is always reliable, neat and organized. We've had Gary back to do other smaller projects because of the high quality of his work. Strong recommend!

Gary is a very reliable and considerate worker and we are glad that we found him for our kitchen remodel project. We liked that he was communicative and clear about the specific work plans that took place each day. His work ethics were also admirable; he was thorough, punctual, tidy, and flexible with side projects. He made efforts to contain dust by sealing off the construction area, which was important for us with an infant, a dog, and a person with dust allergies. His meticulous nature resulted in high quality work and a beautiful kitchen. We especially love the custom picture window he installed for us. This project was by far the best experience we have had with a contractor. Gary kept his promise in building a great kitchen that we wanted in a timely fashion, and he also helped us with extra side house projects.

Gary was a miracle worker! We completely redid the kitchen and laundry room and Gary got us to go outside the box. The results are amazing and we are thrilled! The project started 7/24/2014 and was completed in exactly 5 weeks (just as he said it would). I would definitely recommend Gary for any project!

Because of Gary working in our home, I WILL NEVER HIRE ANOTHER CONTRACTOR. Gary was professional, courteous, informative, detail oriented and on time. Gary was competitively priced, showed up everyday, on time and ended up completing our job before the quoted three weeks. Gary also went above and beyond in some of the work he did, and repaired a lot of the originally built options of our home. When the job was complete, Gary left our home as if he never worked in our kitchen, beside the beautiful kitchen he left us with. Thank you so much Gary for the incredible kitchen you left us with!

Update: Phase 2 of extensive remodeling of Tahoe Tavern Shores for Dr. & Mrs, Eichhorn: Gary Woods continues to have: the Hands of a Master Craftsman; the Mind of an Engineer; and the Heart of an Artist as he continued giving updates on the various projects of our condominium purchased in the 1970"s (entry way lighting and remodel of the downstairs utility and bathroom (with a touch of humor as Benjamin the Bear surveys the scene from his perch above the cupboard), refinishing the lovely wood floors done by the superb sub-contractors who reflect their loyalty and commitment to Gary. He is focused, organized and completes one project at a time which provides a sense of order and trustworthiness. The replacement of windows was done with elegant wood with pull-up screens providing the unbelievable view of Lake Tahoe. We (Erwin A. Eichhorn, MD & Donis Eichhorn, RN, PhD) would not hesitate to recommend Gary to our friends and neighbors. Phase one was the Tahoe Kitchen Remodel: From the Tahoe look of the 1960's, Gary Woods and his team transformed the plain kitchen to elegance - as only Gary's artistic craftsmanship and teamwork could while maintaining the "Tahoe feel" of today. Transformation included: refurbishing all of the cabintry inside & out; providing magnificent granite countertops enhanced by pendent and indirect lighting over the eating area; softening & blending the area by decorative tile under the cabinets, behind the stove and extending behind the sink to the new refrigerator. The linoleum floor was replaced by the soft look of tlle covered partially by a decorative area rug complementing the forest within which Tahoe Tavern Shores overlooks Lake Tahoe.

This project started out Aug. 2012 and finished up April 2014. It initially started out as a kitchen remodel and turned into a complete house remodel. While this long project time could have been a very stressful thing to the homeowner, it was not. Gary Woods and his crew showed up when he said they would - always. He took into consideration the age of the house and made it a point that any changes made stayed within that timeframe. He and all his workers were always respectful of the site and the homeowner and ALWAYS cleaned up debris, etc. everyday. If I have more remodeling to do to any of my properties I will DEFINITELY be hiring Gary Woods again. He is EXCELLENT!!!

I am a sub contractor that has worked for Woods Custom Builders on several of his projects for many years now. From ground breaking start to turn key finish every aspect of the job has been well thought out. Very detailed seamless quality work. He is the real deal........

I cannot say enough good things about Gary Woods owner of Woods Custom Builders/Woods Custom Kitchens!!! He started work on my house with a kitchen remodel. Ultimately, he remodeled my entire home and I would happily ask him to remodel another home and another and another - if only I had another... Specifically, he remodeled the following in my home: Kitchen Living Room Bedroom Closit Bathroom Great Room Gym Hobby Room Garage Now every room is absolutely beautiful and has a special touch or trademark that can be found nowhere else in the house - yet ties in with the rest of the house. In my front room there is a custom fireplace with tiles that tie into the kitchen. In the kitchen are two incredible tunnel skylights that tie in with the over all natural lighting throughout the home and in the bathroom the window is made with block glass that like the kitchen allows an incredible amount of light to come in. The bedroom has a TV mounted to a sliding piece of finished walnut - unique - cool - the wood ties in with the warm feeling of the home. The closit is 10x10 feet of wonderful storage - the entire house has tons of storage. The closit also has a solar tube that - again - allows for a lot of natural light. The garage colors match the inside of the house and so too does the great amount of storage that has been provided. The great room, gym and hobby room also allow for a lot of light and the colors tie in with the rest of the house. Gary converted an old brick outdoor BBQ into an incredible fireplace in order to maintain some of the history of the house! Gary is very creative and has a positive - get it done attitude. His subcontractors enjoy working with him - appreciate his schedule and do excellent work. Frankly, I think they try harder because they really like working with and for Gary! It is generally uncommon to hear compliments about a contractor/custom builder from subcontractors - but around this house throughout the project that was the norm. It gave me great faith in Gary and I was not disappointed. Gary communicates daily. He will call at the end of the day - send emails - leave voicemails and written notes. One never has to wonder where the heck is the contractor and what is going on. His communication is nothing short of excellent. Gary is scheduled and sticks to the schedule. So, when he says you can expect XYZ to occur on X date you may rest assured that will be the case. This level of committement is not easy to find. My house has been remodeled from a place I sleep to a wonderful, warm, inviting home. Thank you Gary Woods for the incredible old house turned into a custom new home!!!
