Brett, owner of Tynecastle Builders, did an amazing job remodeling our dated mountain home. He added fireplaces, two stone feature walls, replaced carpet with interesting floors, updated baths, stained wood ceilings, transformed bedrooms into suites, added coffee center to master closet, converted storage closet and old laundry room into luxirous lady cave, redid front entrance and door, and we are currently desiging an outdoor space. We were impressed with his creative ideas, attention to detail, professionlism, and downright ease to work with. The craftmanship was superb. He is extremely knowledgable of not only the structure and bones of a project but also what will compliment your design. So many times he surprised us with a suggestion for counters, backsplashes, floors, and they turned out magaizine worthy. We have learned to trust his suggestions and just let him work his magic. We've had many home improvement projects but this was by far the most fun. He stays on budget unless I come up with additional "must haves". Because of him my front door now has the wow factor and my awkward laundry is a gorgous lady cave that makes me want to iron. I highly recommend you hire this company and hope for your sake they have the time.

I highly recommend Tynecastle Builders. We used them to renovate a 27 year old house we had just bought. Brett was terrific to work with. He is very knowledgeable about the building trade. He was able to quickly size up a room and explain the different options available to us for that room, including cost effective options. From the day we started, Brett was able to schedule his contractors so that there was always someone here working. I was also very impressed with his atttention to even the smallest details. Brett has a great group of contractors working for him who he has known for many years, which makes them a great team. They are hard-working men who take pride in doing the job right. When Brett siad they would be here to do a particular job, they were here. We did have a few delays in the work, but the unexpected does happen. We saw a delay in the delivery of two bathtub units and there was a death in the family. Life happens. Brett is a person of integrity and honesty, who I do not hesitate to recommend to anyone. JAM

Tynecastle Builders remodeled my cabin in the woods: kitchen, bathrooms, floors, light fixtures, and many little fixes. I worked with Brett, who has an amazing recall of details and is an excellent administrator and communicator. He has a quick eye for what needs to be done, and is attentive to managing to the client's budget. Brett doesn't up-sell, but he will remind you of what is desirable in the re-sale market. And he was flexible; when I wasn't sure about some things (ceiling color, floor finish), he had a small portion done to see how I liked it before they proceeded. Brett was mindful of my goal of being rustic without cutesy, so that he searched for the right fixtures - and when something didn't work he sent it back and found a replacement. We looked for the perfect mountain home for over two years. Then through a friend/realtor, we heard about Tynecastle Builders. We learned that a fabulous house was under construction but that it was not on the market and would not be on market until it was completed. Our agent contacted Brett to arrange for us to see the house. When we stepped onto the construction site we knew immediately that this was truly our dream home. Everything about it was perfect: the site, the design, the room flow, the views. We looked at some of Brett's other houses to get a sense of the completed project. We decided to try to buy the house under construction and then leave Brett alone to complete the vision. Six months later we took possession of the home and it is truly breathtaking! Brett calls the home his "Jewelry Box". Even now the home continues to reveal new "Gems". We love the house and loved working with Brett. It was truly the experience of a lifetime!

I have been involved in building many multi-million dollar homes and have become familiar with a number of builders. I must say Brett is the most thorough, professional, on time guy I have ever met. He pays attention to detail, keeps the ball rolling and as a building inspector told me always goes beyond what is expected to meet the code. Brett designed and built our Mountain House in Tynecastle, Banner Elk. Our family has multiple homes, and by far, this home is our favorite. Brett's craftsmanship culmitates in his ability to combine luxury with comfort, perfect design with function, a feel of Aspen meets LA. He is cutting edge with his use of lighting, building materials, and you can tell he takes true pride in his work. When we bought the house, we were told by many that Brett Schwebke is a true artist. We have had many visitors and everyone is blown away by this mountain retreat. We flock there on weekends to relax and unwind in this sanctuary. We are so thankful we stumbled upon this gem of a home, thanks to Brett's vision and his crew.

Three years ago we undertook a project to add on to an existing castle. The biggest challenge was making sure we kept the addition in the period of the home. We knew it was going to be difficult finding a contractor that would be able to execute our vision. Brett and Tynecastle builders was our choice contractor and they exceeded ALL expectations. Three years later you can't tell what was added and what was original . In addition to his professionalism and attention to detail Brett and his team have continued to provide us service and follow up after the fact when needed. We were browsing magazines for home ideas and came across a featured home on the cover which belonged to Tynecastle Builders! I searched for the contact information and luckily was greeted by Brett himself! Although we live three hours away, he was open to working with us on designing a home similar to his featured cover home. We drove to Banner Elk, NC and he graciously gave us tours of several other homes he designed and built. We instantly fell in love and each home was completely different, with amazing features and creativity. Each home had a specific theme and you could just tell they were each unique and custom. We have been working with Brett for the past two years to design our dream home and it has all come along amazingly well. We could not have asked for a better company to walk us down this journey and I couldn't have done it without him. He LISTENS to you, he always gives you ideas you could have never imagined and he gives strong feedback when you need it most and opinionated feedback when you ask (but he doesn't get his feelings hurt if you decide against his ideas.). Tynecastle Builders has a vision, these are not cookie cutter homes; these are unique, one of a kind, pieces of art that creates eye candy for every person that enters the door. He doesn't only work on the house and structure, he creates an "Experience" from the moment you turn off of the road. You enjoy each curve, turn, movement and much more. There are features in every aspect, but not too much to distract you. I can write a book about Tynecastle but I'd rather you experience it for yourself! The journey is where the fun is!
