“Barrett Joinery (Timaru, New Zealand) designer Amanda Guisolan provided us with superb function and aesthetic beauty in the new kitchen of our 1930s rural home. We decided not to alter the construction of any part of the existing space which had been added to in the 1970s, and which had resulted in different ceiling heights, a variety of materials used, and additional challenges for the Barrett team! We chose Half Spanish White painted cabinets, rimu (native timber) bench tops, stainless steel appliances, and partially tiled walls, and managed to achieve the beautiful and efficient kitchen we wanted, within a very difficult space. The display of our collection of vintage kitchenware adds a quirky element which softens the sophistication of the room. I still get a thrill each time I show my kitchen off to visitors, and particularly love the corner drawers!”
