Be very careful buying from this company: they do not take anything back after 30 days from their ship date, no matter when it arrives at your door, despite any holidays, despite if your contractor never received it, despite anything. No returns even for future credit, zero. Given their prices, too risky for me to buy from again.

I've been restoring my home spending $100's at Vintage Hardware. They sent me the wrong item and I was forced to wait 2 hours at my post office because the box was too big to return in a drop box. When I explained this they refused to use UPS or FedEx and also refused to apologize or give me any kind of discount on my order which they got wrong in the first place. DO NOT SHOP AT VINTAGE HARDWARE!

What they sent me looked worse than a high school shop project. Purchased a mortise lock and privacy doorplate from their website. The mortise lock came with a lose part inside, I opened it to try to put it back in place, and found stunningly bad workmanship inside. They had taken a grinder to two of the pieces to convert a stock keyed lock to a privacy lock, and the person who did it must have had no professional machining experience. The privacy thumb plate that was bundled with the mortise lock on their website did not fit the mortise lock. When I called to ask about solutions, Victoria told me they couldn't accept the mortise lock once it has been opened, despite the fact that instructions are included for opening the lock in order to change the handedness of the lock. In other words, if you examine their work, you can't return the garbage they send you.

We are from Canada and just purchased on older home with a beautiful art deco fireplace in the living room. We decided to purchase two art deco vintage wall sconces from vintage hardware. They cost quite a bit (about 2500 cdn after duty and taxes) but were they ever worth it. The workmanship was amazing, the shipping was faster than expected and they look absolutely amazing. If this covid thing ever ends - we will be sure to make it a point to drop in when we start travelling again.

The only reason I am being generous in giving Vintage Hardware a one, it is the only way to leave a review. I purchase a beautiful brass threshold for my home. I needed to replace one damaged by a flood. I was excited to find one at this store and thought I was getting what I needed. Due to covid-19 I was unable to secure a handy man. During this waiting period my mother died. Emotional I was a reck! I rescheduled the handy man During that time the threshold was kept safe in the original packing material. Once the handy man saw the threshold I was informed it wouldn't fit. Not because of the size, but because of the style. The threshold had a hump - which was intention - to keep drafts out. However I needed a FLAT threshold. I called Vintage Hardware to explain the situation and left a message, and never received a return call from them. I sent the threshold back with a letter explaining the delay in returning the item. Still NO response from them. When I called today I was told I has a store credit! No one bothered to tell me! There is nothing I need or want from this store. Now I'm out $120.77 plus the $50.00 shipping to return the threshold. I cthe need to have a limited time policy to return items. What I don't understand is the lack of customer care or the ability to make exceptions to their policy. Even an airline will make an exception as long as the "product" can be re-sold!! BE CAREFUL WHEN PURCHASING unless you can live with the financial loss!!

I wish I had read these reviews before I made my purchase. I purchased 3 light fixtures from Vintage Hardware and two of the lights are inferior. A polished brass light for $255 should not be tarnished, scratched and dented with wiring that appears to have been a used light sold as new. I have gotten nowhere with the company. They asked me to email them pictures. So I did and after several emails they claimed they were able to view them (They were jpegs which they said that can get.) So, I put the pictures in a word.doc and I don't think they even looked at them. They expect me to pay for return shipping for replacement. I have now disputed the purchase with my credit card. Hopefully this gets me somewhere.
DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY - SAVE YOURSELF THE AGGRAVATION OF TRYING TO RETURN AN INFERIOR PRODUCT.

I paid $205 for a reproduction glass torchiere lamp shade. It didn't fit my lamp. I returned it and waited a month before I sent an email asking about my refund. No response. Eventually, a refund of $147 was received. I wrote asking about the discrepancy. No response. Never compensated. Shop elsewhere.

Absolutely awful customer service. Wish I'd read some of these review before I bought from them. I bought a vintage lockset kit and one of the pieces I ordered was the wrong length. Took my installer a few weeks to discover this. By the time I called to get an RMA (two days before 30 day return period), based on the shipping time it would be 31 days, one day past the 30 day limit by the time they got it. The rep I spoke to refused to say one way or another if a refund would be issued, but advised me to send it back and "we'll see what happens". I did and...guess what? No refund. So now they have the part back and can resell it, while I'm out the product plus the shipping to get it back to them. Downright fraudulent!

The first time I ordered door hinges from Vintage Hardware, they were nicely finished oil rubbed bronze hinges, however, they were defective - once mounted on the door, the door would not close. Customer service replaced them. The next time I order a pair, I thought there had been a mistake because the finish was nothing like the hinges I previously received - I was in a bind, so I painted them myself. I ordered another set recently and they are even worse! The finish is dull, hardly what I would call ORB, and the finish comes off on your hands. These are $75/ pair - quite pricey. I emailed their customer service about the poor quality, and have never heard back from them. I will never do business with them again and would not suggest anyone else do so - unless you like paying top dollar for poor quality!

NEVER AGAIN. Awful product and even worse customer service.
We purchased five brass privacy locks from Vintage Hardware. They were for a client's home and they cost $687.50. When the locks arrived, they looked like the photo but they barely functioned. You couldn't move them without difficulty. The client and the builder rejected the barely-functioning locks, so we shipped them back to Vintage Hardware at our expense. Without a word, they mailed the barely-functioning locks back a couple weeks later. First red flag. We contacted them by email and they claimed the barely-functioning locks worked as they should. Second red flag. We emailed back and forth with Victoria at Vintage Hardware for weeks after that, since she would only respond about once a week. Third red flag. She told us that the barely-functioning locks were now outside their 30-day return policy and we were stuck with them. Fourth red flag. After we begged and pleaded, she offered us store credit minus a 25% restocking fee for the barely-functioning locks. Fifth red flag. (Why in the world should we have to eat the cost on these expensive barely-functioning locks and on return shipping and on second return shipping and on re-stocking fees? And why would we ever want store credit at this point?) Still, we shipped the barely-functioning locks back a second time, again at our expense. Victoria has not responded to any of our emails for weeks now.
What a way to treat trade customers! We will never purchase anything from Vintage Hardware again.

Spent over $700.00 on lamps (Art Deco Streamline Modern Wall Sconces Lights Lighting Fixtures (34-SL-NES) and shipping and received a damaged glass shade with one of the lamps. Called and emailed a photo of my damaged purchase. This morning I was called back and told by customer service that in inspecting all the shades in inventory, all had the same chipped spot. I would not be sent a unbroken replacement nor a reduction in price. I find it insulting to purchase a new item, pay full price for it, and told this is what I get for my hard earned money. Their business model sucks. BTW, if you buy this lamp just know your glass shade will be broken and this company doesn't care. Don't do business with them.

Comment from Vintage Hardware & Lighting:
The fixture and shade for 34-SL-NES are reproductions of antique originals. Some of the original versions had a center guide pin to help center and hold the shade. We tried to explain to the customer the small notch in the shade (which does not show when installed) is not a chip. It is placed there intentionally to help the shade sit correctly and more securely in those versions of the fixture which require it. We regret that the customer continues to think the shade is broken.
