My wife and I worked with Robert for several years planning and designing our new retirement home on Whidbey. I wanted to build up to maximize the views of Puget Sound, while my wife wanted a single story house that emphasized the house and its connection to the surrounding gardens. Robert did a great job of blending our ideas and came up with a design that included everything we wanted - large patios, an outdoor room and guest bedroom on one level, a second story with guest bedroom, and a central "lighthouse style" entry that provided a lookout. The use of the varying heights and angles of the house make it unique. Robert incorporated details with wood beams and columns that give the house a wonderful feel! We love it!

Robert Reed worked with us on the design of a new house. We met with him about weekly over the course of several months to discuss our desires and preferences, and to review his feedback, proposals and drawings. My wife grew up in Mexico City and wanted to include some architectural elements from houses there. Robert took those requirements, and incorporated elements into the design of the house. He was a careful listener, very good at turning into our somewhat nebulous ideas into concrete proposals, revising them to account for out critiques, and very meticulous in his renderings of our desires. During construction, I met with him about once a week on the site, where we discussed with the builder the progress, any problems, and the course of upcoming work. He also reviewed all the builder's draw requests for construction costs. Everything went very smoothly, in my estimation. This architect was hired to design a new addition to our house. The addition was to include a large master bedroom and master bathroom, along with a powder room, hallway and altered exterior door. He was the original architect for our custom home (hired by the original owner) and he knew about the house's features. This architect was very accommodating, meeting us several times in our home during the early stages to discuss our interests and preferences, and to review various design options. He was flexible in adjusting his designs to address any features we wanted to highlight, and he was very dependable and conscientious in following through on meeting timelines. The architect was also adept in using the technologies available to communicate with us and the general contractor through face to face meetings, phone conversations, email and internet connections. Overall, this architect exceeded our expectations and did an excellent job.

Robert Reed designed two fantastic houses for me. I hired Robert because I had seen pictures of his clean, contemporary, airy designs, and as a resident of San Francisco, I needed an architect with knowledge of local building agencies and ordinances. I gave Robert the broadest outline of what I was after: 3000 square feet, three bedrooms, low maintenance, and target construction costs per square foot. I wanted houses that took advantage of the views afforded by the site, and I wanted the clean look of anodized aluminum windows. I gave him about six pictures I had clipped from magazines depicting features I liked. Robert must be a “good listener.” He took that minimal information, as well as an understanding of the environmental constraints affecting the site, and produced initial designs that changed very little through the completion of the project. I almost always accepted his recommendations, having concluded that his vision for the houses was truly better than mine. He made his recommendations regarding fixtures and finishes in a very organized and efficient manner, whether in a bound book (fixtures) or on a display board (exterior paint, shingle and trim colors). Robert also worked well with my contractor. Since I was living 800 miles away, I cannot overstate how important it was that I could rely on the two of them successfully to work through the inevitable issues that arose during permitting and construction. In the end, the finished houses are beautiful. Indeed, I was able to sell one (which I had built for sale) in a very soft market simply because it was aesthetically the nicest house on the market for the price point. I continue to receive complements with each new visitor to the house I retain. My family loves it. Simply, it provides a living space that is extremely light, open, spacious and comfortable. I have only praise for Robert and his work.

My wife and I had a great experience with Robert. He was able to see an elegant way to expand our home to fit our needs. Robert was always available to answer questions we had and was sure to let us know that he would be as involved in the project as we wanted him to be. From picking house colors to kitchen cabinet design. Robert was able to give us a master bedroom and bath, family room, office, laundry room and pantry without loosing the charm and style of our 1930's North Everett home.

Robert Reed assisted me in the design and implementation of a new waterfront home project I was pursuing on Camano Island. I originally contacted Robert with just home design in mind. However, after several discussions with Robert, I realized he could help me with the entire project layout and implementation with Island County which is complicated for waterfront property. Robert not only provided me excellent designs based upon my criteria, but help make the entire project possible and seamless in working with Island County. I couldn't have accomplished the entire process on my own. I really enjoyed working with Robert and appreciated his professional approach and great architectural designs for my new home..

My wife and I were interested in expanding our Master Bedroom closet as it was far too small for the two of us. Mr. Robert Reed prepared and presented four separate, well-thought out walk-in closet addition options that tripled the size of our original closet, and integrated a very complex gable roof style into the addition which beautifully complimented our multi-story house. We selected one of the options we liked the most, had it constructed under his supervision, and we couldn't have been more pleased!

Robert Reed designed our remodel and did a fantastic job. We bought a 1940's rambler and wanted to add a level as well as redesign the interior. As with any addition it is a challenge to add to an existing home and not have it look like an add on. Robert not only accomplished this task, but did this while dealing with a flat roof that looked out of place, tight budget, and specific needs/wants. We have had many compliments from people, that saw our home before the remodel, that have commented that they would have never known the newer part of the home was added on. During the process of design Robert was exceptional in his communication, fairness with edits/price, and took our needs/wants into concern while designing our home. Robert also had great ideas when it came to areas that we were unfamiliar with such as design elements, patterns/textures, and being able to help us see the creation. He understood our priorities and made them happen. We are very pleased with our home and feel Robert was a huge factor in the success of the remodel.
