We purchased a home on Nantucket that was a complete and total gut job. We met with Nathan & Karen to review the options and, after many revisions on our end, they provided us with a set of documents that supported the design we were looking for and the proper documents to allow us to navigate through the arduous HDC and Building permitting process. When inevitable problems occurred on the project, Nathan & Karen were always available for a site visit, walkthrough and conversation regarding options. We would highly recommend this all star team.

This fantastic review is long overdue! Nathan designed our Outdoor Bbq house to exactly what we wanted! We gave him all our ideas and he turned it into this beautiful room that we spend most of our days and night in! His experience and knowledge of Nantucket weather and “rules” got the job done!

We engaged McMullen & Associates as architects for our project in Sconset, Massachusetts. We were so impressed with the quality, creativity and thoroughness of their work. We wanted to transform a former garage into a two-story cottage for guests. They dove right in, submitted the drawings on time and presented a package to us that was functional as well as extremely attractive. We cannot. wait to see the finished product in April.

Nathan McMullen was a delight to work with. The project was a total rehab of an original Nantucket cottage built in the late 1800’s. It involved demolishing the rear of the house, lifting up the front of the house, building a basement, expanding the house and designing a custom 4 bedroom, 3.5 bath family home that feels light and spacious inside , without losing the essence and charm of a historic Nantucket cottage home. Nathan was very creative, efficient and responsive to ideas and suggested design changes. The design that Nathan created, and the architectural plans that he prepared and submitted to the HDC , were acceptable to the commission and accepted with very minor revisions. Nathan has worked on Nantucket projects for a long time, cares very much about the architecture of the island and understands the requirements of the HDC and how to work with them. We were very pleased and would retain McMullen and Associates again.

My husband and I cannot recommend Nathan McMullen from McMullen & Associates more highly. Not only were we new homeowners at the start of our project, we were also expecting our second child. The home we purchased needed a lot of TLC and it was important to us that the changes made were both functional and practical which meant reconfiguring the existing space. We generally knew what we wanted but Nathan and Karen offered countless suggestions and alternatives that helped us focus on our time and budget - which was especially helpful when factoring in a toddler and new baby. We recommend working with Nathan and team, especially if you are looking for a highly responsive, knowledgeable architect.

We had the privilege of working on a home that Nathan had designed. His attention to detail on both the exterior and interior trim were second to none. A pleasure to work with, he was always willing to spend time with us at the job, and answer any questions we had. The plans were very thorough and well thought out, which made out job a little easier. Commented: Can you tell me where the garage doors are from? They are beautiful!Overhead Doors, a national chain. They can custom make most anything. These are fiberglass doors clad in cedar.
