My husband and I downsized to an apartment in April 2020. Laurie Leclair was highly recommended to us by a couple we know, and she first came to us in July 2020. A very good listener, she quickly tuned into our needs, and we both trusted her judgement. Together we sorted through and got rid of what we didn't need, and she showed us how to place what we already have to best advantage. She helped us choose fabric for chairs and cushions, and and recommended the right people to do the work. She gladly shopped for us for the few items that we needed to buy such as window blinds, loveseat, rugs, and even small things like shower curtains. She kept everything on schedule and it was all totally stress-free for us. The end result is beautiful, and we could not be happier. Laurie saved us from making many costly mistakes, and she was great fun to work with. Worth her weight in gold!

Laurie is an absolute dream to work with. Being new to the city, I had zero contacts and plenty of Renos to be done to our new house on a tight budget. She helped us navigate our vision, decide on colour palates, furniture size, placement, and made suggestions for antiquing. She also played mediator between my partner and I lol! She has a solid network of fastidious contractors and who offered fair prices--we didn't have to make a single call! What I was impressed with most is that she encourage me to wait on some Renos until I've been in the house longer. It can be so overwhelming to try and pick a starting point and she made the process such a pleasure.

Laurie, from leclair-hyett design, gave us great advice for paint colours for our bungalow. She spent over an hour just getting the feel of the house, and talking to us to determine what we thought was important in the colour choice and to get a sense of what we wanted to achieve. For example, she noted that, with all the wood and our artwork, the existing wall colour didn't make things leap out, and thought we wanted to have more "pop". Also, we had a stand-alone small room that we said we'd like to be a very different from the rest of the place. Laurie's colours simply sang to us, and the colours she selected suited us, our art, and work beautifully together. We could not be happier with the look, or with how Laurie dealt with us. She also had interesting side suggestions about lighting and some accent work that also worked out splendidly. We could not be more pleased with the results, and recommend Laurie and her company without reservation.

We contacted Leclair-Hyett Design for shades for a new sunroom. Laurie Leclair met us at home and over several visits we decided on specific shades. Delivery was prompt. The shades were made to fit each window; 21 in all, including French doors. They were duly installed and fitted perfectly. The blinds bring a blend of functionality and design to the room. Laurie also helped us to select the perfect accent cushions. Accent cushions in a fabric that, on our own, we wouldn’t have thought of selecting, but which enhance the look of the room and bring an intimate and modern coziness to the setting. Catherine Hyett very quickly understands the tastes of her clients. She quickly researches sources and products and in doing so, saves her clients hours of time. She is artistic, intuitive, and a lot of fun work with. And she is affordable!!

I first encountered Laurie by chance when she worked at Randall's Paints and was most impressed with her skill in picking out colours. Years later I sought her help with more extensive renovations that my Victorian townhouse requires. She was most helpful not only with respect to design consulting but also in providing the moral support that these home projects seem to require! I highly recommend both Laurie and Catherine.

I have used lecalir -hyett design for a number of projects thus far. The first project was to have a metal roof painted. This is not an easy task given the paint adherence and durability issues. The project was executed perfectly. I have had all my window treatments completed by L-C and am delighted with the all of the designs and functionality of the treatments. Their look is sleet and clean and fits perfectly. Porch and interior painting and upholstery all have been executed with an eye to excellence. I would hire this team in a second. They take the time to listen to your vision and expectations and guide you through the process with excellent results

I hired Leclair-Hyett some time ago for a custom top down bottom up blind which was perfect. Some months ago while staging a friend's home, I turned to Leclair-Hyett to help choose some major furniture purchases, and the finishing touches. I'm not a great shopper, so standing in Home Sense and furniture stores was just paralyzing for me. At the end of what had been a total gut and remodel job, I needed help and design sense to choose things to get the house on the market. They introduced me to retailers that I hadn't even known about. After that experience I am "staging" my own home, and plan to live here and enjoy it. I've had help validating purchases that I thought were good, but was insecure about purchasing on my own. I have had help picking furniture, paint colour and bedding, so my home has a fighting chance of looking a bit more like the photo spreads in Houzz. Laurie and Catherine are lovely, and professional, on trend and best of all reasonable. LOVE my house now.

When I decided to be my own General Contractor for a large renovation project that involved tearing out an overbearing stone fireplace and punching a hole in the house to install a new picture window and many other upgrades, I knew I would need guidance. I called upon Catherine Hyett of leclair-hyett design. Her decorating and renovation advice as to colour and furniture choices, trades people and suppliers was first rate. But what made Catherine exceptional was her interest in and dedication to my project. She was there to provide support every step of the way and this made a huge impact on the success of our renovation. When I found myself overwhelmed and/or faced with a challenge, her speedy response to my calls, her calm approach to the matter and her ability to resolve issues quickly, was exactly the amount of support that I needed to get through those times.
