Earlier this year (2016) I contacted Elizabeth at J & J Upholstery about a chair I needed re-upholstered. The chair belonged to a friend of mine and there was lots of sentimental value attached; it possesses exposed wood on the arms, legs and around the top of the back. A month before I took the chair to her I had another individual refinish the wood and in so doing he removed all the padding required for the upholstery work. Never having had anything upholstered before I was concerned about that padding and wondered if Elizabeth would be able to make some sort of replacement. We talked on the phone and I purchased a material and delivered everything to her.
There are times we in the south sometimes question locations and anything resembling a “mom and pop” operation. Elizabeth’s home is over an hour and a half from my house and locating it a bit confusing but let me tell you, it would have been well worth the trip if I’d had to drive THREE hours. The work she did on this piece of furniture was second-to-none and I would recommend her services to anyone. Not only was the work done to perfection with added touches to make the chair even more special, it was done in what I would call ‘record’ time… about a week. Not only that, the cost of her work was less than HALF the price quoted me by three other companies in Nashville and Brentwood and Franklin. When I walked in and saw the chair I was literally stunned at the craftsmanship, the expertise and the quality of work. Trust me, if I have things that need upholstering in the future, I’ll gladly drive to her… you should too!
