Sloped Yard - Private Patio & Waterfall

We renovated this sloped, wooded lot from being overgrown and underutilized to a peaceful and exciting, natural stone living space. We built a railroad tie timber retaining wall for a raised bed and steps leading to large boulder steps and a raised irregular flagstone patio. We incorporated drystacked stone walls on the face of the raised patio, along the back of the patio to accent, and to form the natural gas fire pit. The fire pit has a double-ring natural gas fire feature set in lava rock within a drystacked stone form and finished with a flagstone top. The water feature and retaining walls were built with several large, medium, and small PA boulders. The interior walls of the water feature were also done using drystacked stone. The water feature spills along a curve into a dry river jack bed. There are also five LED water lights incorporated under the spills of the waterfalls. The plants, which will come alive this spring, include purple Azaleas, blue Hydrangeas, a backdrop of Canadian Hemlocks (a great understory screening tree), a centerpiece Dogwood, Skip Laurel screening, a stately Nellie Stevens Holly, and an ornamental Japanese Maple set near the waterfall.
