Millfield Rd, Newcastle

Situated on the exclusive Millfield Road, this beautiful period property has been significantly enhanced with the demolition of poorly constructed later ‘add ons’ and a modern extension replacement. The old conservatory has been removed as this was unusable due to the south facing orientation. Instead, a full rear width extension has been formed which fully takes advantage of the buildings orientation whilst being constructed in a manner which allows the environment to be controlled – resulting in a contemporary space which can be enjoyed all year round. The extension links to the principal Living areas, being the reconfigured and refurbished Kitchen and the main Living Room. The open-plan space feels all the more spacious as it looks over extensive and beautifully kept gardens. Nicholson Nairn designed this modern extension which marries with the traditional proportions and external materials of the original dwelling. A modern flat roof construction was considered the most appropriate solution with parapet detailing referencing the period of the dwelling. Modern roof lanterns and bi-fold doors complete this property enhancing project.
