Kitchen/Dining Room Pass-thru

These bi-fold doors, made of polished stainless steel with leaded glass inserts divide a kitchen and family room. The homeowner, designer, architect and myself created this artwork to give the two rooms privacy from one another when required. My solution was to create an original work of art that also was also a fully functioning bi-fold door installation. The three large black rectangles you see are actually very thinly sliced sheets of absolute black granite, not black glass. I wanted in some way for the architectural materials found in the two rooms to infuse the artwork. Photography by Mark Levy Studio
