1/4 minus gravel is is same path material used in Seattle Parks. Here we have set Montana Ironstone on the 1/4 minus gravel to great utility. The reason I prefer this grade is the ability to pack tight like concrete so that it will set the stone steady and does not grow weeds as readily as a more coarse gravel might. The other reason I like this is that is does not "contaminate" the surrounding beds like a larger particle might. Gil Schieber
