Estate at Las Alturas

Everything in the foreground of this view is created from scratch. You can see the house peeking through the middle oak. The specimen Live Oaks (Quercus agrifolia) were brought and placed by crane and thousands of native grasses planted. In the background is California State grass Stipa pulchra. This is a scene that was once plentiful throughout southern California but sadly most native California grassland is gone to cattle ranches and development. Andri Beauchamp, photo
