Complementary Colours

Although this room is large, the combination of open concept and disproportionate wall sizes led to some interesting challenges. The Wolf range DF486C is the hub of the kitchen and the focal point. Its installation was treated as an element with pulled base units each side and a custom hood cabinet above. The scale of this installation coupled with the grouping of tall items at the end, mitigated an otherwise excessively long wall at 21 feet. The fridge wall had no flexibility in length and very precise planning was required to avoid the crown molding of the fridge gable projecting past the wall. The SubZero 632-O was installed on top of the gables instead of between, saving a desperately needed 1”. The front of the island was angled for good clearance in front of the SubZero. This then set up the overall shape of the island and repeated itself above the ceiling design. Rich walnut cabinets are complemented by imperial blue granite and wall tiles.
