2012 Home updates: Professional Woman & Daughter

The existing accent tile bar framing the soaking tub is a mottled, soft-greyed jade and seemed to play pretty well off the adjacent bedroom. Blessed with the owner’s trust in our relationship and track record of design success in the balance of her home, I began by tossing out her “Please no wallpaper” remark and advised her to just trust me on this... Warming this bathroom with a linear vine and blossom wallcovering and glistening, slate-like flooring brings the views indoors and provides needed balance, contrast and drama to our center of attention and focal point (the whale). This bathroom metamorphosis has given the owner someplace really special where she feels like she is vacationing at an island retreat everyday…a place of infinity, Zen contemplation, ultra-luxury and being in another world… An unconstructed, billowy, unlined, “tacked-up” window treatment of soft cotton/linen pulls it all together, affirming the spa feeling. A pair of lower “peek-a-boo” panels can be optionally pinned back, permitting property views for the small windows. Crowning the tub is the mini-chandelier, replacing a former can fixture and providing a bit of bling (also visible upon a closer inspection of the new vanity hardware are the centers of Swarovski crystals). Over and above the new solid surface countertops with under-mounted sinks, a smaller-framed glamour mirror and linen-textured light bar, the overall pristine ambience offers my client new energy and daily renewal.
