Interested in a sleek and modern look for your bathroom remodel? Are you ready to simplify and streamline? If so, you’re in step with the most stylish designers. They know that today’s high-end bathroom is polished and elegant — both a sanctuary and a showcase for the finest fixtures and finishes available today.
If you’re one of the many people considering a bathroom remodel, chances are you’re in the market for a new shower floor. And with shower floors, as with most elements of a well-designed bath, practical as well as aesthetic considerations come into play. Although you may not have yet considered the shower tray option, this element is a smart and fashion-forward choice. The advantages of installing a shower tray in your bathroom — as well as the stunning options available — may surprise you.
Sleek and Seamless Design
Modern shower trays are as attractive as they are functional, especially with low-threshold or even zero-threshold applications. With no curb to step over, there’s virtually no barrier between the floor and the shower, giving the space an effortlessly seamless look. At the same time, they’re easily accessible and add an extra layer of safety with an antislip feature. As part of an overall shower design (if you choose cladding panels to match), a shower tray can evoke a modern aesthetic with ease. It has the ability to visually open up even the smallest of bathrooms, yet it doesn’t feel cold or unwelcoming.
On top of those benefits is an array of unique textures and colors that let you customize your tray. You can find versatile curbless shower trays in hues and textures that suit your style and add character while maintaining a classic look with their simplicity. For example, if you favor a more organic vibe in your bathroom, consider a textured shower tray that mimics the look and feel of natural slate. To customize your shower floor even further, choose a hidden drain for a truly seamless look. If, however, you love fixtures and finishes with industrial notes, you may want to opt for a stainless steel grid instead.

Ease of Installation
One of the other things we love about a shower tray is that it doesn’t take all day to install — yet another reason to choose it over tile, which can take a professional days to lay and grout. A shower tray’s unique design adapts to all spaces, sliding directly into a shower alcove. Once level, the shower walls are built around it. And since many shower trays are already designed with a pitch or slope, like this minimalist shower tray, there’s no need to create one underneath it for drainage.
Finally, unlike conventional tiled floors, leaks won’t be an issue: The tray is completely waterproof. There’s more good news for your installer (or you, if DIY is your thing): If you’re placing a shower tray over a subfloor, the threshold is less than 2 inches, making it much safer to enter and exit the shower. That accessibility feature is something homebuyers look for in a house today. Because it requires so much less time and labor to install than a conventional tiled shower floor, you won’t have to wait to enjoy your chic new shower.

Say Goodbye to Grout
Today’s stylish shower trays are more upscale and attractive than any acrylic model, and they’re far simpler to maintain than tile. For starters, there’s no grout to clean, so all that scrubbing is a thing of the past. That’s especially important if you’re the one wielding the toothbrush. Plus, mold won’t build up, potentially causing cracks and introducing a health hazard. And because shower trays prevent water, mold and bacteria from getting into the subfloor, they make for a cleaner, healthier bathroom all around.
If you like the look of luxury without the high maintenance, a shower tray may be for you. Its material and minimalist design make keeping it looking like it did the day it was installed a cinch. With all of the options available, you can get the look you want, whatever your style — with less stress.

Made to Last
We already know that high-end shower trays are easy to install and maintain — and easy on the eyes to boot. But there’s more: The best trays are expertly constructed of quality materials, with a solid finish designed to last for years. With its concrete-like feel and high-definition finish, this slim, durable shower tray checks all the boxes. It’s stunning but, more important, like all of the modern shower trays in this family of products, it’s made of Akron, a compound that’s been treated with a polyurethane-acrylic coating.
Akron is smooth, impermeable, resists UV rays and doesn’t produce VOC (volatile organic compound) emissions. The tray is impact- and thermal-shock-resistant too. The exceptional durability of these trays (along with cladding panels of the same material) means you won’t have to switch them out just because you decide to repaint or refresh your bathroom in a few years. That can translate into substantial savings of time and money. With a modern shower tray as its foundation, be prepared to love your shower for a long, long time.

any idea what one of these trays cost?
We installed two such showers in 2007! They are all you say, with one exception - they had to be regrouted last year where the walls meet the floor. otherwise they are truly a breeze to maintain. i would say that one maintenance in 15 years is magnificent!
I would also appreciate knowing a "range" of what the trays cost. No indications at all on their website.
