Three-dimensional accented tiles have a unique, decorative quality and can transform an otherwise uninspiring surface into a visually appealing one. They come in all sorts of shapes, sizes and styles, and can be arranged in endless combinations to create intriguing patterns. Here’s a look at the different areas where 3D tiles can conjure magic and lift the space.
Earthwood Custom Remodeling, Inc.
In the bathroom
Three-dimensional tiles can create a dramatic effect by creating the illusion of movement. The irregular surface of the tiles play with light and cast a sense of depth to the surface. In this bathroom, the tiles in soft white and grey are reminiscent of ocean waves and give the room a calming, whimsical quality.

Sometimes an accent wall is all you need to enrich a room’s design. Here, the pixel-style tiles used as splashback in the bathroom by Urbanist add texture and depth to an otherwise monotone bathroom. See how stunning the colour looks against the all-white bathroom. This is a fun alternative to the more traditional tiles.
Aum Architects
In the bedroom
The hexagonal back-lit tiles in this children’s room designed by Aum Architects immediately catch the eye. The entire wall behind the car-bed gives the room a playful quality.
Dezignare India
This bedroom, designed by Dezignare India, shows a sculptural tiled wall behind the bed that becomes the focal point in this wood-heavy bedroom. The tiles’ black colour creates an immediate contrast with the other hues in the room. Their shiny quality matches with the metallic fabrics of the cushions on the bed.
Hammond Design
Beside the stairway
The homeowners thought out-of-the-box while doing up this staircase. Instead of using mirrors or photos, they used a textured wall with tiles that create an illusion of movement all along the stairway.

In the dining room
See how Savio & Rupa Interior Concepts artfully accentuates the wall behind the dining table with dimensional tiles set within a frame – these also give textural relief to the otherwise plain walls. The pop of red in the white interior further lifts the space.

In the living room
Consider using 3D tiles to create an accent wall in your living room. Here, Urbanist uses the patterned charcoal-black tiled wall to create a moody scape against which the brown sofa and the patterned rug glow with warmth and vibrance.
Swift Lee Office
In the kitchen
Here, 3D tiles make a statement in an all-white kitchen without the use of bold colours. The wall on the left cleverly sprinkles patterns and makes the pristine area look alive and fun.
