Counter tops, Black Pearl satin-finish honed granite countertops. Dark gray tile backsplash. Wire-brushed 7-inch white oak flooring in a natural water-based finish. “The floors warmed the space and added just the right amount of coastal flair,” Becker says. Designer secret. “Balance is the key,” Becker says. “While white countertops on white cabinets with white tile is classic and beautiful, don’t be afraid to bring on the warmth. I love to use darker matte materials and natural wood tones to add interest and depth to a space.”

Another hidden gem in the wall of cabinets is this pantry dedicated to baking supplies.
This broom cabinet shares the concept with the prior photo but has greater depth. The upper shelves have sufficient vertical space to hold cleaning bottles and supplies.
This unobtrusive, shallow cabinet makes use of the paneled space at the end of the oven bay that is often purely decorative. No real estate is lost, and the kitchen broom gains a discreet hiding place.
Here’s a lovely use of the barn door trend: opening a pantry. Because the doors slide on a rail, the kitchen or pantry doesn’t need clearance area for a swinging door, allowing more space for other uses. The wide pantry doors can also be left open for easy access. These barn doors create a pretty design accent with their gray paint and black hardware. J
