Avid collectors of vintage Danish furniture, these empty-nesters desired a new midcentury-inspired house to feature their furniture collection and take advantage of the views. Architect Don DiRocco says the design of the house “was informed by the views,” with all the public rooms and bedrooms featuring ocean vistas. The exterior of house is covered in red cedar.

Limestone pavers lead from the driveway and carport to the recessed front entrance. The landscape, also done by MF Architecture, includes beds delineated by steel edging and weathered steel planters, which give the garden a crisp, modern look. The team used gravel as the patio material in front and back not only for aesthetics, but per local code, which limits the amount of impervious paving a site can have. The clumping bamboo at left will grow in to add privacy for the front of the home.
