To put around the bear-proof composter, perhaps build the composter and then two permanent planters made of the same material (stones and cement) but slightly lower than the composters...one on each side of the steps up to the porch or in front of the divided driveway? Would be more convenient to have composters beside the steps but also might smell a bit or would the flowers hide the compost smell enough?
The roof and the brick
Love the window!
Mix of Stone, shakes, siding, roof lines...kind of curvy part too.. Could do dark shakes on each side of rock face (part by our door)....
Front door
Bench with cushion but also part of the bench has no cushion (to put tea, purse), storage under bench for visitors shoes
Mirror with shelf that hangs on the wall...takes up less floor space and don't need to move it to clean
Sedums as an alternative to grass on the north side of house near addition...don't need to cut grass
Instead of grass on north side?
Covered part over door as well as windows above the door to let more light in
Steel roof on only part of roof

Recessed lighting with light in side of door works too...check with hubby which he prefers....this would be less maintenance (cleaning) than hanging lamps

Blueish grey siding with white trim...not crazy about the stone hallmank11 2014-06-10 The stone in this picture is a white Granbury mixed with Lueders limestone…. Looks like a little bit of wintergreen as well…. Its a very beautiful combination… I hope this helps you… The builder should have not ignored you….
Two peaks, white trim, gray siding, stone like our plan....see how it looks
The stone goes right to the basement, on a slope like our place, see how it looks
Stones...but a little too brown for our siding, i think. the stone for the project is common new england fieldstone. it has been installed with the mortar "raked" out to show the stone's prominence. the stone appears to have been installed as a "dry-set" wall, using no mortar, but the stone mason's ability to select and place the stone, secured to the structural exterior wall, with minimal exposed mortar. the stone is approximately 6"-7" thick. I would recommend that you show your builder, and mason the photo and visit the stone yard to obtain the stone products in your area. if you review the photo, the window sills have been installed utilizing 2" rock faced blue stone. I would also recommend the builders mason provide a 48"X48" sample wall for your approval.
