2 things about this photo. See the furnace cabinets? (even though that is probably the fridge) - but that looks great to hide our furnace, but don't need handles. Then along that whole side wall, instead of pantry, then counter, then pantry, do all counter. I have a few more examples of this, but I really like the look. And this can be all 2 draws at the bottom. Cabinets at the top we have to figure as there are a few options I believe for top cabinets. This color scheme is growing on me (hopefully Bellmont has matt lacquer options). What floor color would we do?
See how the entry to the kitchen is? So build a wall to encompass the left pantry, opposite the furnace. Do you know what I mean? And let's square off the corners, not round them. And where the grey cabinets/ovens are would be the solid wall of pantry/fridge. I don't like the handles on the left hand draws. Hoping to have none.
Bad example. Think of the stove/sink wall. I have this one not for the cabinets, but the induction stove. I am wondering if we do no upper cabinets at all on that wall. I am not getting that much storage space there anyway and they'll block the view to the living room. And I think I like seeing upper cabinets framed between walls. We could do a down draft, or a really high exhaust. If a downdraft the oven will have to move to the island. Am I crazy? If so what do we do with that wall? Also I have simplified what appliances we need out, and think I will keep them next to the cook top near the dishwasher. Hmm, this photo does not help much.
Sean prefers a walnut dining table. I was thinking the bench seat may be better in a darker color rather than white, maybe grey if you think that would match. Then a grey bench cushion (as the kids will use it as a kicking board and napkins...). Then the chairs can be white/chrome - lots of options from sean's company. We can also pull in walnut color into bar stools in the kitchen to tie all the rooms together.
yes! Elica range hood. So we can have the cook top over the oven, no upper cabinets, and a beautiful looking vent hood that is a feature on the wall. And also proves that these "island" vent hoods can be mounted on the wall, or probably hung from the ceiling next to the wall. There are a number that would work.

Ignore the left side of the photo with the stove top and tiles. This is the JenAir 42 inch panel ready fridge I have selected. Thinking on the fridge wall we actually do a solid wall of floor to ceiling cabinets, the fridge in the middle with a 36+/- inch pantry on either side (single or double door?). So would look like the right side of this photo. More practical that I don't have to walk around the island to get the food, and also keeps in line with that whole streamlined look. The right hand pantry would have the shelf for the microwave. These handles I think work for the pantry/fridge. Or we'd try and match with the oven handle.
