Steve- Here are a few pictures that I hope get you an idea about trim and other thoughts.

This is how I'd like to pick up the beams over the range. However, my uppers will but right up to the hood, of course. Need to discuss finish. Plaster? Like the straight 90 degree edges, not curves to hood. Note photo to follow of Russet beams sunk above windows. They are flush to wall. Want beam here flush to hood almost.

I really like the solid look to the "lockers" here. Same design as used in kitchen to be used here. I like how partitions don't extend to edge of seat.

Shelving on the right inside of the mudroom desk. I like how the desk counter is the first "shelf." Start the shelving at 12" above this? I like the way this picture looks but NOT the next picture.
