Bathroom Ideas
Article: Shower bases. Gone are the days of boring beige prefabricated shower bases. More and more, I’ve been using shower systems that have modern, clean bases made out of acrylic or porcelain. Don’t overlook other options for your shower floor.
Article: Shower floors. Larger tiles are typically more difficult to slope properly, and unless they’re textured, they’ll be slipperier because the grout lines are further apart. Smaller tiles, whether textured or not, offer more traction and are typically the norm for shower floors — though the options are nearly limitless.
Article: Shower sills. Like the windowsill, what’s important here is that it is sloped properly into the shower. Try to choose a material that is solid, like stone or quartz. If you tile your shower curb, water can sit on the grout lines and eventually seep through to the framing.
Walk in shower with no lip to trip over in older years - what about water on the floor and leaks?
Wall niche contrasts with shower tile. I like the shower head & wand choices.
half wall, faucet set (various pieces, I want oil rubbed bronze I think), hand rails and bench
The shower floor tile, difference to shower tile. Hand rail and shower head placements.
I like the contrast between tile, niche, and bench. I also like the squeegee hanging.
shelves in the wall for around shower and around toilet
Instead of 3 separate niches, 1 big niche with selves. Many show glass, but that will look dirty all the time. Plus, they need to tilt slightly towards the shower to drain.
Wall cubby is a great idea
Top the bench with the same material as the vanity counter top. Easier to clean than tile and ties everything together.
shower niche with glass back instead of tile. No grout to clean!
Light in the shower nook....
Built in fog free shaving mirror with lighting
Sliding shower doors instead of swinging door (not sure which would work best in my application). Or no door at all - just walk in.
What about a walk in shower with no door to swing or slide? If shower is against the tub, incorporating the shower bench as part of tub deck may be an option.
I like the 3 different tiles in the shower, but not gray
Patterned tile instead of the stone or pebble look? My goal is easy cleaning, but not too slick on the floor.
Article: Use a large-format tile or large porcelain slabs. The larger the tile, the less grout you have to clean. And in the case of large slabs like those you see here, no grout at all. This shower surround looks like Calacatta marble but is actually composed of thin porcelain slabs. “Thin slab porcelain does not require sealing and will retain its polished or honed finish under all types of conditions,” says the designer, Bonnie Bagley Catlin.
Article: The floor and wall tile is digitally printed porcelain. It looks like Carrara marble but is more durable, requires less maintenance and isn’t slippery. The large-format (12-by-24-inch) tiles continue from the floor up the walls of the shower and serve as wainscoting around the rest of the room. This makes the space feel larger and creates a cohesive look.
Article: Porcelain is the easiest to clean surface and will last a lifetime (floor and/or shower tile).
Article: Choose a water-spot-resistant glass coating for shower dividers. When I remodeled my own bathroom, the shower glass pros let me know about Clarvista, a protective coating for shower glass that resists water spots and is guaranteed for life. I still squeegee after every shower to keep things looking clean and use glass cleaner to give it a thorough cleaning about twice a month, but after eight months there are no signs of water spots.
Solid surface vanity top with integrated sink. Where do you find these?

I'm really liking these color combinations. Neutral with warm wood tones.
Contrast of wood to light floor and tops, maybe not this far apart in contrast though
I like the color scheme of the vanity, and like the floor
I like the vanity color. Consider for the walls....
Another way to have power in the drawer.
Clever drawers to go around the pipes.
another look at adding electric to the vanity
I really like the drawers and the electrical outlet for hiding my hairdryer. Have the top be something other than wood so I can leave my flat iron out.
medicine cabinet with a plug in it
Bead board that is taller up the wall with a contrasting darker colored wall. Compare different heights of bead board in pictures.
Painting the beadboard and color and the walls neutral white?
White bead board with a bold color
Wall color with white bead board and the shelf.

Although I don't want to decorate with white subway tiles, I like the feel of this bathroom. it looks inviting; I like the texture too.
