I ended up going with the small boots honolulu tub from home depot and I'm pretty pleased with the overall quality. It has not felt that small for us showering and is great for bathing my 1 year old. I am really glad we didn't go for the deeper kohler or the clawfoot from signature hardware because they both would have been too hard to manage in our tiny space. I mean, ideally I would have a bigger bathroom but the honolulu tub has really worked out well for our micro bathroom. Here's a pic:
