Curb appeal
Front fountain could be as simple as this. No pooled water. However pooled water makes for a better sound screen.
curved bench facing the house/driveway with back to pine trees on corner of front yard opposite the driveway (ie, the pine trees that shield the ELI lot). Fountain should be next to the bench.
Whispy grasses
Illuminated shrubs
Vine cabling
note entries to the backyard. Wood stained doors.
Notice the yard entry at the right. The gate with the overhead beam would be nice for our side entrance but on a smaller scale.
Stepped planters
Instead of pavers, large blue stone
Note the border pavers that look like zig zags. you can plant grass in between the spaces but can still drive over it. Consider if this might be a maintenance problem though due to weeds, or when cutting the grass or when plowing snow.
This is it. Low maintenance, lush, and provides a nice privacy shield.
The bed at the left on the other side of the pathway would have the driveway side pathway on the other side of it between the bed itself and the porch. The pathway shown would come off the sidewalk.
Trelis for the front yard entrance from the sidewalk? It would have to be ivy covered? Would we need the fence as well? Maybe too much maintenance
Front yard ELI blocking tree plantings should have this circular layout ideally.
Perfect: Curved pathway should come from sidewalk to house bordered by evergreens and evergreen tree in corner to shield ELI. Second path should come from driveway at far left.
Ideally this is what the neighbor side path to the backyard should look like.
Should we forest-out our front yard like this? :-) It would hide the unsightly neighbors.
Notice how the width of the stairs is not limited to the width of the column separation. This makes the stairway more prominent. Also consider the option of taking the current porch and incorporating it into the living (ie expand the living room and entry where the entry would be the new foyer) while leaving a portion of the porch. The portion of the porch would give the effect of a porch although it would not be functional for sitting. Instead the porch would be a walkway from the side of the house to the entry.
Side walkway
limestone capped raised bed wall.
The front path should have a raised bed with a finished wall. The wall should be in the same brick as the stairs. The stairs treads, the raised bed wall cap, and the stair sides cap should all be done in matching limestone.
Corner pine shields ELI
Perfect!
Driveway walkway
Nice stone wall. Symmetric bushes.
Walkway would be off the driveway and sidewalk (some how). Interesting idea of planting in front of lot = low maintenance, and privacy shield.
Front corner of lot gets a tree and landscaping around it. Ideally what our corner ELI shielding plantings would look like.
