Ryan's Ideas
13 positive/negative This room shows positive and negative space. It does this by using dark colors but also bringing bright light into the room, if you look closely it also has a contrast between the dark walls and light carpet color. This room also uses a white trim to create balance in the colors. This brings out an illusion of perfect balance.
10 heavy apparent weight This room represents heavy apparent weight. This room uses dark colors and dark tones to give the room a more cozy feel. The illusion that this room is giving off is a more cozy and comfortable feel rather than a larger and softer feel. They also used dimmed lights and several other things to bring out the “heavy” feeling.
6diagonal lines The designer used a diagonal line design on a wall behind a table, this represents the diagonal line design for multiple reasons. It shows a transformation not only in the height of the wall but also in the colors. It creates an illusion of movement and transformation as the colors change with the change in the diagonal line.
5 vertical lines This photo represents vertical lines. By using vertical boards it creates an illusion of adding a very nice touch of height to the staircase wall. The boards going up creates this feeling of the staircase being almost taller than it actually is, I believe this photo did quite a good job at representing this.
1 Small Space meant to look larger In this picture the room has bright windows and uses bright colors to make the room appear to be larger. Everything in this room is quite packed together but by using these light colors and large windows and bright colored furniture it creates an illusion of a much larger space.
15 all 3 This room uses the effect of making the room look larger by using small decor, light wall colors, along with bright windows that create a open effect in the room. It also uses a cement texture on the ground which makes a more modern feel. This room also uses horizontal lines to create more width/length in the room with the bookshelves.
