If you have some of these same issues, do not despair! We fashioned this coatrack from a reproduction French butcher shop sign and pine planks that we painted a buttery lemon yellow. The antique Asian chest below not only serves as extra seating when we have a crowd, but hides shoes beautifully. man porch - Mark and Priscilla installed a Rumford fireplace on the back porch. The Rumford, common from 1796 until about 1850, is a tall, shallow fireplace; it was designed by a physicist who was known for his investigations of heat. He made them smaller and shallower so they would radiate warmth better

The design team discovered original pine shiplap wood underneath the drywall. The wood was in such great shape that they decided to keep it. They painted it white everywhere except this kitchen wall. “It’s a real pretty wood. Seemed like we ought to leave it somewhere,” says Clayton
