Bathroom shared
use of wood and colors in #5 intrigue me. Harder to see (dead) black mildew in the corners with these colors. LH - like the overall feel of #5 but concern that black may bee too dark - like the design of #1 for downstairs bath although a different layout and not dark tiles, room for attendant Like the looks of grey tiles in 3 , 7,, 9 and think 10 (terrazo) would be an interesting accent in downstairs but not pebble floor.
FYI for Lynn. I like frameless, recessed cabinets (my concern is the finger prints on the mirror for push to open mechanisms, so wall mounted might be better). LH like recessed and frameless if fits in wall. We have frameless now and we need to clean the mirrors anyone, but i can go with a frame too. I like the efficiency of storage behind the mirrors.
New concept for discussion. What if we moved the tub into the corner (will required relocation of window), eliminate storage corner at head/foot of tub, and move right side sink to other side of bathroom (to give adequate access to tub), as in this lay out? LH - agree this makes sense and perhaps reorient shower along outside wall with cabinets move to near entry door to Bath on wall with bedroom - but think would need to go to HOA again with window but we need to go back anyway. I know that cabinet at food of tub bothered you. Means less counter space.. Would need Sal and Lauren's input as well.
This compares what I do not like - shared wall with shower and tub vs. all glass shower enclosure. LH agree and I think we are avoiding that.
Interesting concepts #2, 4, 5 and (9 or 3, for corner storage space next to tub) LH - like 1, 2, 4 & 5 for storage - 5 especially for downstairs, 9 is interesting too. Not sure about the step in 3.
I would like to have curbless in master and downstairs showers. downstairs bath is being widened to allow wheel chair access. LH agree with downstairs - not so sure with upstairs since less likely to have wheelchair/walker on 2nd floor but I see the appeal
FYI for Lynn. Large format porcelain appears to have a lot of advantages in terms of color. For the kitchen, I like the colors of our linoleum. For the downstairs and master baths, porcelain allows underfloor heating as an option. LH - like the idea of the porcelain a lot. Understand it's more costly but I think it's a better choice based on this information.
