i could leave my cabinets (sand and revarnish so they look more bleached) and put all white around them. this looks great. maybe replace the microwave with a cool hood fan and put the microwave where a drawer or cabinet is now.

this is a little more similar to how my kitchen setup is with cabinets bottom and top. light counters with natural wood seems to work fine. the island counter top is too dark for me.

potentially like the idea of carrying the countertop up as the backsplash. i have wall above my cabinets too. it's a very light grey paint right now.

like the simple vertical backsplash and sleek hardware (maybe hardware is a smidge too modern). very much like the light countertops with the light cabinets (mine are natural maple but have yellowed a little over 20 years). we have new stainless steel appliances, all stainless steel. microwave and double oven have dark glass.

have been thinking a darker grey/charcoal to paint my island but this white combo with the upper wood cabinets is more similar to how mine would look - doubt white on the bottom would be great for maintenance though. my hubby is very hard on things and likes to eat at the corner. We also need bar chairs, not stools. That could be in a light fabric and still work. Something with a back. He sits at the corner and watches tv when I'm cooking.
