Laura's ideas
Coastal style is: Breezy. Think light, bright and airy: sheer white curtain panels, whitewashed surfaces, bare wood floors and plenty of open space. Natural. Furniture and accessories use natural materials like sea grass, jute, wicker, rattan, linen and cotton. Casual. If you can’t imagine kicking off your shoes and putting your feet up on something, it probably doesn’t have a place in a coastal-style home.
I also recommend that clients get a small trash bin that can be hung on the interior side of the cabinet door. This type of bin works well in the kitchen for food scraps. The lid helps keep odors from food waste from permeating the entire cabinet.
small space, big on style

Add a place to sit in your bathroom, besides the toilet or side of the tub.
For easy cleaning counters select Corian or quartz which are nonporous, prevent stains and are easy to wipe clean. Corian is most hygienic because there are no seams to trap dirt.

Finishing touches to contemporary style: Less is more, simplicity is the name of the game. Simply framed artwork, sculptural lamps and pendant lights, candlesticks and vases with strong shapes, soft, touchable throws and printed pillows.
Cozy contemporary: many contemporary furnishings are ergonomically designed to maximize comfort. Add a few rugs, warm throws and a soft glow of candlelight and acheive that "hygge" feeling
Contemporary shades: High contrast (black, white, charcoal), sophisticated neutrals (dove gray, taupe, mushroom, ivory), bold accent hues (teal, navy, fire-engine red, yellow, hot pink).
Colorful contemporary

Gray or mid-tone counters are nice for a soft, friendly vibe, or you have a black and white scheme that could use a little softening.
White counters are good if you love crisp, modern style, have a small space that you want to look as big as possible, want to break up modern wood cabinets or other bold finishes, or you love a nautical blue and white scheme.
Kitchen counters: pure white works well in modern spaces with flat front cabinets (especially a yellow-orange undertone) to keep the look fresh and contemporary.
Kitchen counters: white works in kitchens that already have a great deal of bold character in other finishes such as grainy wood cabinets.
Kitchen counters: white works with contemporary styles
Kitchen counters: white and blue are a classic combination that is welcoming and stylish.
Kitchen counters: pure white counter tops generally on available in manufactured materials such as Corian or Caesarstone, bring a contemporary, minimalist freshness that no natural stone can match.
Kitchen counters: flecked or softly veined counters are good if you have traditional or transitional interiors, you want the space to look big and light without feeling clinical, you want a white counter top but don't want every crumb and speck to show.
