The wood was not identified in Houzz. This is my favorite kitchen. Love the look, like the stain color (could go a bit darker or even lighter depending on the floor we decide on). I like the wood grain, the wood on the hood and shiplap accents and white uppers. It’s probably quarter sawn oak? To us, this color stain seems not too red or yellow...it’s a nice neutral brown.

Another pic of my favorite kitchen. Must be quarter sawn oak. Love the island cabinet latches. Don’t think the shape of hood or cross board accents are too bad, but not sure that’s what we’d like.

Maple cab, white oak engineered floor and fir beams. This is a nice blend of three woods, three colors. Like this look a lot. Maybe has too much yellow vs brown ( the wood beam is a nice brown)

Some sort of oak? Don’t know exactly what it is, but don’t like the style of cabinets. Too formal a look. The wood itself seems pretty though.

Knotty alder...tall cabinets. Do not like the knots and grain in the tall knotty alder cabinets.

VG Doug fir. This is very pretty! I could live with this wood grain, but it’s so yellow now and will only get more orange over time. Don’t care for mountings or arches, but the cabinet doors are great.

Ash. Very pretty! But a darker stain. We like the wood

Ash. Again...like this wood grain, but have not seen it stained. If it turn yellow as does maple, we’d want a stain to darken it a bit. Also like the white shiplap and white cabinets.

Hickory. Too busy and dark. Too yellow red. But maybe something like this with our windows, white cabinets and lighter wood floor, it may be nice on island or pantry even with its knots? Or maybe island and lower cabinets, and have the pantry white?

Hickory. This shot show what we like about hickory. This side panel piece has a rich grain, straight but not as rigid looking as quarter sawn oak. And not as many burls or swirls as reg oak. This color is too dark and red for our kitchen but the grain is pretty.

Hickory. Obviously higher grade. The wood looks somewhat boring in pics, but may be beautiful up close. Don’t care for the cabinet design, or handles. If it were a bit different stain and shaker design, and different handles, the wood itself might look more beautiful. To us. Too contemporary a look for us.

Hickory. Here again, no knots but we don’t like the stain of the wood. Too red! Or is it the wood itself. Seems a bit boring.

Hickory with butternut stain. We like this wood, the grain and the stain...color may be too red but not bad. We don’t like the cabinet door design, prefer shaker. Overall this wood is nice. Looks rich but casual, and not too busy.

Hickory with butternut stain. Same butternut kitchen. I like some white, this is too much wood for me. But overall the wood, grain and stain is pretty. Probably as good as hickory can get, as far as not being too busy, too much color variation or knots.

Hickory. This looks pretty over, the wood looks gorgeous. Not the brown we are after, but the grain and variation is toned down and in this photo at least , looks really nice. Way too much wood, because I like light bright kitchens.
