We are 10 days in to our kitchen reno, and the one thing I can't decide on is the backsplash. I've looked at a zillion pictures of kitchens on google and nothing really grabbed me, accept diamond pattern tile. We're keeping the white ceramic diamond patterned tile floor (its the only thing DH wouldn't let me change), and it felt like if I went that route I should pick a white tile for the backsplash, which I don't want.

Then I saw a picture of a copper backsplash. I was blown away by the beautiful aged coppers I saw thanks to a quick search. But, after all the other splurges, I'm a bit leary of spending so much to get one. After a bit of searching on ebay, I found that plain old copper sheet is pretty dang affordable. We're already DIY'ing a fair bit of the project; DH is an electrician and his BFF is helping him patch all the drywall.

Sadly, DH is not convinced that copper is a good idea. He thinks that copper is hard to keep up and will "get all gungy and gross". He wants to go stainless, but I don't think it would work as well as copper with the shaker style cherry cabinets and Madura Gold granite counter that I picked. So to (finally!) get to my point, I need help convincing DH. If anyone has copper as their backsplash, how long have you had it, how's the upkeep on it, and most importantly how much do you love it?
