Flatware drawer organizer. In my opinion, a built-in flatware drawer organizer is preferable to one purchased later, as it’s often difficult to find one that fits the drawer’s exact dimensions. Most flatware sets are similar, so the design can be relatively simple. Some drawers are designed with a top inner drawer for smaller items, like the one in this project by Everingham Design, which might be beneficial for infrequently used items.
Organize the Inside It may sound like a no-brainer, but often what makes a kitchen, big or small, organized is how we arrange the insides of our cupboards. Shelf and drawer dividers, hooks, racks and other storage devices are key to keeping order. Consider what works for you and go custom if you can. Are you a Mason jar and Tupperware kind of person? Do you prefer mugs on hooks, shelves or in drawers? Storage is often about personal preference. Here, the slim slots for chopping boards and placemats are a brilliant idea, as is the slim pullout spice rack.
Reduce Your Numbers If your kitchen is really mini, or even if it isn’t, think about doing a good edit of your paraphernalia. Be honest: Do you really need more than a handful of plates, mugs or glasses if there are only one or two of you? Having less stuff can be immensely freeing — and will significantly reduce the amount of time you spend washing up, which is a big bonus.
Assign Dedicated Storage Areas Kitchen clutter can easily accrue, so it makes sense to assign different cupboards a specific purpose and stick to it. And dedicate a few minutes every couple of weeks to returning stray plastic lids or pot covers to their homes and sweeping out spilled spices and coffee grounds — it really will make a difference in how pleasurable (and easy) your kitchen is to use day to day.
The kitchen was already open to the dining room. This presented an opportunity to use other areas for some of the kitchen’s functions. “He is very passionate about coffee and she wanted to keep the countertops clear of small appliances,” Kestenbaum says. “There was a niche off the dining room that wasn’t being used for anything. It was a really convenient spot for a coffee-wine bar and he already had a beautiful espresso maker.”
The countertops are soapstone, a favorite of the homeowners. “These clients wanted to use as many natural elements and details as possible,” Kestenbaum says. They include wood details and solid wood cabinets. The homeowners selected a farmhouse sink, and the elegant kitchen faucet is polished nickel with an integrated pull-down sprayer. The designer recessed the windows into the drywall to extend the countertops into the window wells. Then she added a low soapstone backsplash to line up at the same height as the bottom rails of the windows. This created one continuous black line around the room. “It really helped pull everything together
HELPFUL!!
Without and "ending visual" a way to separate the kitchen from the family room, is with a hutch cabinet at the end of the range wall. “When a kitchen is open to a family room like this, I like to end the kitchen with something that defines the space. And I love to do it with an elegant, furniture-like piece,” she says. The hutch has reeded glass doors that match the pantry door.
Large transitional l-shaped medium tone wood floor and brown floor kitchen photo in Chicago with white cabinets, marble countertops, white backsplash, ceramic backsplash, stainless steel appliances, an island, beige countertops and shaker cabinets
Lovely mix of colors and textures that blend so well together. balanced raw wood ceiling beams and other wood details with glass-front cabinets, textured taupe-colored backsplash tile and a dollop of blue cabinetry to keep the eye moving.
fabulous walls of windows!! Do not miss the uppers at all....
looking past the "business" I like the U layout of this one. Makes tons of sense. Fridge, sink, stove island grounding it all....
BIG open kitchen & layout....
this is a GREAT drawer!! Should hold a plethera of baking elements.
while it's not large, it's well laid out... there is decent storage and a really gfood traffic pattern.
it is NOT symmetrical, and it still works! the stove and rangehood somewhat balance the open shelving on the other side of the door. The wool works well with the green and red brick.
Slats in this drawer keep food containers and their lids organized.
that's a TON of cabinetry and hidden storage
nice corner option, open cabinet with glass door next to it to eliminate a "heavy" corner that's dark and awkward.
Now THAT'S a baking center!!
LOVING this open shelving statement piece. It works perfectly in the "baking corner"!! (not a fan of the tiles)
lovely layout for a narrow kitchen with dining space! the herringbone floors are magnificent! The green with white tiles and stainless is a classic! Very well done!
excellent use of space and ease of having tools handy. The baking sheets sortage is awesomne.
like the dedicated "baking center" and the storage/access associated with it.
LOVE the dedicated spaces surrounding the stove. The open shelving is nice and airy, hopefully not too much of a dust & grease collector with that BIG exhaust vent!
the mosiac behind the stove is very noce.
love this idea for cookware! Making use of a blind corner cabinet is great, This version does not require the "stacking" of pots, & pans!! Brillliant!
Adding lighting to the toekick is genius!
love this island!! the stools tuck under, there s abundant storage and its got a HUGE surface for buffets, rolling out dough, crafting anything.... the moulding is a super plus too... ;)
the pop of color in the island is fabulous. Add the warmth of the stools....
the open shelving over the sink keeps it feeling open. They're not as deep as a cabinet would be and the light bounces well.
the spices, oils and other cooking needs so clost to the stove is a boon
natural light at the stove is s big plus!
its HUGE and very well thought out and laid out.
this sink blends in seamlessly with the counters and cabinets. It just recedes into the whole picture, does not stand out glaringly. This is a big PLUS for me
the solid surface for a backsplash is so much better than a lot of grout....
The baking center to the right of the range includes a large cabinet with pocket doors, shelves for supplies and electrical outlets for a stand mixer and other small appliances. “It’s an elegant way not to have to move the mixer,” PLUS there is all that available counter space directly opposite for rolling out and filling pans and sheets.
Wide drawers to the left and right of the range hold pots and pans. Narrow drawers on top store utensils and potholders. A lower corner cabinet to the left includes a pullout for small appliances. “It’s one of those extras you don’t know you should pay for, but it’s totally worth it,”
The new island design has leather stools that sit against three 12-inch-deep cabinets that store cookbooks, serveware and tea and coffee. “Those cabinets add lots of extra storage,”
Homeowners’ request: A traditional-style kitchen with more storage, a larger island and a workspace separate from the eating and entertaining areas. “The family is also tall and asked for my advice on raising the counter height in order to reduce back strain while chopping food, and to eliminate as many upper cabinets as possible,” Island details. An angled design — the result of a staircase on the other side of the wall to the right in this photo — maximizes countertop and storage space. The island includes a raised walnut cutting board on one end and a seating area on the other, as well as a prep sink, trash pullout, microwave drawer, beverage cooler and cookbook cabinet. Other special features. Quartz countertops and backsplash. Accent cabinets with curved fretwork. Designer tip. “I love a kitchen that is easy to clean, Using the same counter material as your backsplash creates a seamless look with no grout lines. It can be cost prohibitive for some clients, so we use a large-format tile in some cases.”
Great way to incorporate work and eating heights w/o tall stools. The lower portion has seating for up to nine guests the upper portion for prep work that includes a sink, dishwasher and microwave drawer. The seperaton is made even more "solid" with different counter tops. The quartz upper is great for the workspace while the lower is warmer for resting arms and food on..
LOVE this island and the shades in the cedar!! It works so well with the white and grey of the lowers. Change the stools, thats too much
so much USABLE counter space!!
so much ROOM!! not a super fan of the fridge placement, but I can live with it,,,,,
the brick
I'm LOVING these cabinets.....
Teriann LOVES this pantry
not generally a huge b;ack fan, but this is VERY well done!
love how the blue fish-scale tile on the feature wall and glossy white rectangular tile stacked on the side wall mix well with a subdued blue-and-gray pattern on the floor. the fish-scale tiles are sweet
the space is organized and functional..... the door storage provides EASY access for often-needed items!
