Like everything Houzz does the ad is professional and well thought out. I especially like that the marketers were savvy enough to tap into the hottest home renovation (opening up the kitchen) in a funny and memorable way. 5 stars to the advertisement team for this.

Subtle, interesting, thought inspiring, realistic, authentic - and not hard selling. Difficult to do well, and it may be too subtle for some - but probably not for our sophisticated target audience.

My husband has hearing loss so I live this scene every day! Great commercial, and yes, we also need to renovate.

As long time professionals in the shelter industry, we receive requests almost every day to design homes that can overcome the "limits" of older houses that were basically based on "clumps of rooms arranged in inefficient living patterns". Congratulations to Houzz. I would also like to commend the company who produced the ad. Simple, brilliant, humorous. I love how the light morphs to sepia tones in the flashback.

The commercial is richly layered, and, much like our business, the message communicated in modes other than words: : light, texture, the music, body language, even foot traffic patterns. It is genius.

I think what I love best about the ad is the brief glimpse at the finished kitchen at the BEGINNING of the spot. Because in the end, it's not about "look how fabulous this space became", but rather, "can you identify with what this couple is living through, well then, go check out Houzz, and get started on your OWN fabulous solution"

The new kitchen for the couple in the ad is not important, it is the fact that so many homeowners will be able to identify with their cramped situation, it will motivate them to go click and explore their options!

Funnily enough, JUST last week I saw a client (through Houzz) with the same cathedral doors as the ad shows, and her words to me were "I was going to just paint the cabinets, but every before shot I see has my doors, so I finally realized how dated they make my kitchen! I can't wait to have my cathedral doors in a before shot!"
