Need help with colors and lighting
Comments (7)Starting with the bedroom suites...have your bedding selected. Choose a color that coordinates. You can accent the headboard walls with a darker color and carry that darker color into bathroom on the walls, or continue bedroom color and carry the accent color into your towels and shower curtain. I would paint kitchen and 2 dining room walls the same color, selecting a darker color for the drama in the dining room and contrast with your kitchen cupboards (such as your green color). The other walls in your living room, foyer and hallway, should be your neutral color such as a camel or warm gray. This neutral is bumping up against all of your other room colors. So, it will make a good transition from room to room. On the bold side, you could find a great wallpaper for the two walls in the dining room. Don't forget to play up your foyer with furniture for that first look impact. Selecting your bedding first, allows you to tweak your paint color and hue, and the darkness of your color. Comments (9)You can work with your currant wall color or go more yellow - that is up to you. If you do decide to go more yellow. get some small inexpensive sample bottles at the paint store, paint some poster board and hang it on a wall for couple of days because getting the right buttery yellow can be hard. A soft yellow and lavender is pretty together but I also like the sea green. When you said a combo of modern and cottage - that made me think of beach cottages, which often have soft colors (including sea green) and unfussy, calm interiors. You can put a large painting up if you have the wall space for it. Many bedrooms have tall chest, dresser mirror, tall headboard and big TV, all which take up wall space. If you can hang the painting without it being crowded by any of the things I mentioned, it should look very nice. If you wish to do a curtain fabric treatment to a wall and you have the vision of what you want - then go for it. I had a friend who did that in collage - only problem was the yards and yards of fabric needed got rather expensive. So, I would start with finding bedding you love. Simple white is good, and not too expensive. However, you might find something else light that you love, or a quilt or throw for the bottom of the bed and the colors and shades might lead you in a different direction for wall color or accents. So bedding first, then curtains, then see how your wall color is and then add accents and art - although your painting can also be an inspiration for colors....See MoreWhat do you think of my full house furniture design?

Comments (2)Hello there, You could use MS square sections to create an array of shutters which will conceal the entire area, look contemporary and would be helpful in ventilation too. You could continue the whole thing towards the end and carve a simple cut-out from the shutter using MS sections and only a pair of hinges attached to the wall where stairs begin. You could also achieve the same feat with CNC cut jaalis, expanded metal mesh, concrete louvers etc. There is a wide spectrum of options you could consider depending on your budget.
