OnePlan has a point -- people are notoriously unaware when attention is elsewhere -- like getting to the front door. Laying pavers in a different color/pattern/size (pick an option that appeals to you) that will be the same level as the remaining pavers would give you the distinctive path. Shame to cover the pavers; can they be removed without destroying? Alternative that comes to mind is to create a barrier along that line. A railing mounting on the pavers either 3' high or 6' high -- pick your medium. metal posts w/railing. glass panels in a framwork. shoji screens. colorful curtains hung from above. A photo from further back, showing the front of the house would help suggestions.

Clear tempered glass outer-a 'storm door', and a solid inner door... I just put an outer screen/storm and inner solid on. The inner is the one that can be steel clad and built for the deadbolt. If you need security that badly you may have to go to an additional bar cover on the door. http://gainesvilleironworks.com/projects/security-bars-doors/ shows some. The door I replaced on this place had black ironwork that was for security... which is where a good deal of it's purported $800 value in 1984 came from I believe.
