limestone counters--too high maintenance?

I have the opportunity to get a nice piece of limestone counter material. I love the matte finish and texture but need to know if it is really so high maintenance that I should scrap the idea?

Your thoughts?

Lots of info here on other threads and on the net on this. If you don't mind the patina and lived in look it will get then yes, maybe use it, but it will not stay looking as it does now. If you think it will stay pristine with careful maintenance, then this isn't the counter for you. It's not so much maintenance, but a willingness to except the spots, rings, blotches, etch marks, and stains it will get even with the best maintenance.

If it has fossils in it and many darker spots with an already mottled effect then it might hide these, but if it's a clean, more solid surface, I think it will only bring you grief in the long run. You can get a honed, matte, limestone look from Caesarstone without a lot of these issues.
